Attempting to free a prisoner held in police custody, the Miller Gang attacked, and engaged in a shootout with, for law enforcement officers near Union Staton in Kansas City, MO.

The officers and their prisoner arrived in Kansas City by train about 7:15 AM. Various events are described in the article linked above that I estimate took about half an hour. In the process of the effort to free the prisoner, five people died - all law enforcement plus their prisoner. The entire assault (which might have been a hit on the prisoner, rather than an attempt to rescue him) lasted about 30 seconds.

It was quite the sensation at the time. - The solar ingresses don't offer anything useful, but the one active lunar ingress and the daily timing mark this quite dramatically and accurately.
