For May Day, Seattle's protests got violent, including the throwing of rocks and Molotov cocktails at police. That's kinda nasty, since both hurt quite a lot.

A few arrests were made.

Seattle's ARISOLAR is harsh, with Mars 0°23' from square Asc, Neptune 1°25' below Asc, and Jupiter 3°03' above Descendant. Mars squares Neptune 2°15'.

Yesterday's CapQ was mixed, having ingress Pluto on Dsc and ingress Venus on WP.

This workers' rights riot also goes along with my predictions for the current Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto zone for the nation:

For April 28 to May 9..., we are in a JUPITER-URANUS-PLUTO Zone... We are especially in a time that emphasizes revolutionary, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, anti-government, even revolutionary trends that dismantle elements of the current system and tear down iconic structures. Moon-Jupiter drives this more fiercely with ideological passion - most of the negative events of this time (as well as the positive ones) will be ferociously backed by religious zealotry, highly divergent and competing political polarization (hey, it's an election year!), and other ideology-fuelled anchors. Folks align, with populist force, along "our people first!" lines, with a possibility for great unity or great sectarian division. A push for civil rights pairs off in a title match with forces of bigotry and suppression, but they all stem from all parties strongly feeling they are doing what's best for their families and communities. National pride, patriotism, family, community, and religious zeal mark the time.

For all practical purposes, Donald Trump secured the Republican presidential nomination last night. This can be considered a national event. It was marked particularly by Ted Cruz' withdrawal from the campaign at 8:35 PM EDT.

I don't see any distinctive indicators of it - nothing beyond the ongoing Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto phenomena (though that surely is indication enough of this sort of event). Much the same is true for Indianapolis, though the event is more focused there because Uranus exactly rises in the Indy Capsolar, with the Uranus and Ascendant both squared by transiting Pluto.

The Alberta town of Fort McMurray was completely evacuated yesterday - the whole town of 88,000 people - in response to encroaching wild fires. This makes it "the largest wildfire evacuation in Alberta's history."

So far, nobody has been injured or killed, though property damage is substantial. The evacuation was already in effect by 3:30 PM EDT when PM Trudeau tweeted supportive thoughts.

With a dormant Caplunar, we slide back to the LIBLUNAR which has Saturn 0°20' from Descendant and a foreground Mars (5°). Transiting Saturn is 0°22' from conjunct CAPSOLAR Midheaven right now. Transiting Neptune is 1°00' from Capsolar EP. (However, t. Jupiter is 0°49' from Capsolar WP, putting attention on the Jupiter-Saturn square.)

Jupiter-Neptune is also the chief mark of the CanQ (which has Mars just a bit too far off IC - perhaps it is more angular for the center of the primary fire).

UPDATE 5/10: The destruction was really bad, but not (pardon the pun) "scorched earth." Large tracts of Fort McMurray were levelled, some trees still stand but are scorched, and downtown was saved. Only about 10% of the buildings were destroyed (about 24,000).

Fort McMurray Canada has had very high temperatures and no rain for a long time. 90 thousand people have been evacuated while the city burns. 1600 structures are gone so far. Don't know yet when or how it started.

US NEws said yesterday:
"The blaze, which had burned since Sunday but seemed on its way to being neutralized Tuesday morning, overwhelmed firefighters when winds shifted quickly and drastically in the mid-afternoon to the southwest of the city. Officials said flames stormed along a ravine and roared into the city and the race was on to get out."

King Felipe dissolved the Spanish Parliament yesterday. (They've been having a hard time forming a government since December.)

A huge fire broke out in Houston today (May 5), releasing "hazardous material" into the air and forcing the evacuation of an elementary school. I don't know when the fire began, but it hit "four alarm" level about 9:45 AM.They'd brought it under control by 2 PM.

Houston has had some severe weather conditions in recent weeks, and the longer term patterns should definitely show the overall severity.

The CANSOLAR is dominated by a Venus-Saturn square (1°15') - common for fires, among other things - with Saturn square MC 0°34' and Venus a mere 0°07' from MC. Jupiter is also angular (3°47').

The ARISOLAR pointed to a more unpredictable and disruptive quarter. Sun is 0°41' below Asc, in mundane square to Pluto 2°545' from MC. Uranus is 1°31' the other side of Asc. Similarly, the CAPLUNAR has Uranus within 1° of an angle, with Moon, Pluto, and Venus also foreground. (The new Arilunar, like the Capsolar, is dormant.)

The CapQ MC conjoins t. Uranus (13'), and squares s. Mercury. Transiting Pluto is < 2° from WP. (So: More Uranus and Pluto.)

It's been a crazy time in Houston.

Last week, the DoJ told North Carolina that its new bathroom laws violated the Civil Rights Act.

Today, North Carolina (where Uranus is angular this week) sued the U.S. government over the issue. A few minutes ago, the Obama administration sued them back.

Is it wrong to call this a p***ing contest?

Werner Faymann, Austria's chancellor for the last seven and a half years, abruptly resigned from office yesterday in the face of growing right-wing trends in his government (a reaction to the migration flood into Europe and fears over increased terrorism).

Vienna's Capsolar and Arisolar are primarily mercurial events - not sure exactly what the means here.

But the current CAPLUNAR is more acute. Pluto is 0°52'above,and Moon 0°33' below, Ascendant - the two being in almost partile mundane conjunction, an aspect the world doesn't share. It's a meeting of populist revolt and acute separation that is entirely fitting.

Then, in case we didn't get the separative and disruptive message, the new ARILUNAR has Pluto 0°32' from WP and Uranus 3° from MC - plus a "soothing" touch of Venus square Ascendant (partile).

Furthermore, Uranus has been transiting the Capsolar MC (1°40' at the moment). Yesterday's unusually close Sun-Mercury conjunction fell on Vienna's CapQ WP. The CanQ angles hit Uranus and Pluto.

Yesterday was Baghdad's deadliest day all year. Three different suicide bombs killed 80 people.

One was car bomb in a busy Shiite street market. A second went off hours later in a Shiite dominated housing section. A third, about the same time, was in a predominately Sunni commercial district.

I don't see unusual chart activity to support this. The Arilunar doesn't show it, and the CapQ had transiting Jupiter on MC yesterday.

She was impeached... then she wasn't... then they said, Oh, what the heck, let's impeach her.

Brazil's senate impeached Pres. Dilma Rousseff this morning. NY Times broke the story at 2:44 AM PDT, and it had already occurred today (so it was really early). She now steps down for 6 months which, among other things, means she misses reigning over the Olympics. (Coulda used some good photo ops from that, what with her popularity in the toilet etc.).

Checking for about 6:30 AM local time in Brasilia (which was also sunrise):

The CANSOLAR is the chart of the year and, as noticed previously, it has Sun setting and Uranus on IC, among other severe foreground aspects. (All other intervening solar ingresses are dormant.)

The CAPLUNAR has Saturn and Neptune closely angular - classic mark of impeachment - with Jupiter more widely added to the mix (especially through Jupiter-Neptune ecliptically and mundanely, and Jupiter square Saturn ecliptically). Moon squares Uranus mundanely.

The Canlunar is dormant, though it has the Moon-Uranus square that appears in these weekly charts for the first time this year, and is certainly shining a disruptive and disclosing light. The ARILUNAR continues to put the focus on presidential things, with Sun partile conjunct EP, but doesn't add anything more.

Transiting Venus conjoins Capsolar Ascendant, as transiting Sun is still barely in orb of its EP. Primary daily timing, though, comes from the CapQ, which has transiting Neptune on Dsc, transiting Saturn on IC, and Jupiter managing to sit right between and not be within 2° orb of any angle. The CanQ has t. Sun on Dsc exactly (20').

Notice how much the Sun plays in this, and not usually afflicted (usually just present, without aspects) - but in a context of greater severity. Come to think of it, that might be the analysis of what's going on: The underlying issue is that people in Brazil are really unhappy and the country is suffering and, within that context, we find attention directed at the President.

Because the Cansolar is so instrumental in showing a presidential disclosure/severance, and the trial could take six months, I wonder if the new Cansolar in two months will tell us the likely outcome. For Brasilia, it dormant - an interesting test of the dormancy thresholds, because the most foreground planets are Sun, Uranus, and Pluto, with a close Sun-Uranus mundane square in the foreground. These would keep the focus on the presidency, and be disruptive and severing. OTOH, if the dormancy prevails, the only active factor in Brasilia is a close universal Moon-Jupiter square.

Kabul was brought nearly to a halt yesterday as protestors packed the Kabul streets, "driven by ethnic Hazaras' outrage over the proposed route for a new electricity transmission line tapped a deep well of factional tensions and frustration" (NYT). Security forces went into high alert. Mostly things were peaceful and, at least, no bombs went off.

This especially caught my attention because I'm presently studying the astrology of violent ethnic division and acute factionalism.

Kabul's ARILUNAR (since the Canlunar is dormant) has the Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune quartet foreground, with Jupiter closest (0°01') and tightly opposed by Neptune (2°32' from Dsc). Saturn is next, Mars widest.

This is consistent with some things I'm seeing on specific ethnic-division charts (more later, as I sort it out), but in particular shows elements of entitlement and mob madness collaborating.

Transiting Saturn is in orb of Kabul's CAPSOLAR IC. Yesterday, for the protests, ingress Uranus was on CapQ IC.

Three days of a major storm dumped nonstop rain on Sri Lanka, and has left extensive flooding and mud slides in its wake. So far, 37 are dead and 21 missing, with hundreds homeless. (Oh, and monsoon season is just getting ready to gear up.) For Colombo:

CAPSOLAR: Jupiter rising square Venus on IC. We usually get the rain warnings from the lunar ingresses, but this is hard to miss. (The ARISOLAR adds another angular Venus. Wet, wet, and wet.)

CAPLUNAR: Devastating and, again, wet:
Pluto on MC (0°02')
Uranus on Asc (0°25')
-- Uranus-Pluto sq. (0°27' in mundo)
Moon-Venus sq. (0°33' in mundo)
-- Moon and Venus each about 7° from angles

CANLUNAR for when the rains came has still another angular Venus - Mercury is closer - Sun is there, too. (Moon-Uranus square < 3° for the whole world.)

LIBLUNAR for now is dormant for the usual sort of indicators but - again - has wet on the angles, with Jupiter near Dsc.

The equally wet CANSOLAR (Jupiter precisely on IC) has had it rough the last few days, with Mars slowly transiting its Descendant.

Some dude waved a gun around near a guard house at the White House and wouldn't put it down. He's been taken to the hospital. The closest guess I have as to time is 3:16PM eastern, maybe as much as two minutes before that.

Today is a day I had flagged as a "bad day in Washington" (one of the Saturn on CapQ days). I think this qualifies.

This is also the exact day transiting Pluto conjoins Washington Capsolar MC. I had expected more "crisis and deep disruption," but this is nonetheless a stand-out Washington-centric event.

On the Saturn principle, consider that the NY Times headline for this titled it a "White House lockdown."

The Preakness Stakes won't start till about 6:45PM at Pimlico Downs in Baltimore, MD today (May 21, 2016) but there have already been two tragedies in the undercard races.

HomeBoyKris won his race coming from the back of the pack as a 9 to 1 underdog. Was in winners circle for photos at 10:35 AM. Walked about 100 yards going back to barn from winners circle and fell dead. Probably heart attack.

Pramedya was in the final stretch, broke a bone in her leg, fell with her jockey and was euthanized on the track. Jockey hospitalized with broken collar bone. Time not given, but before noon.

PETA's already doing their attention-seeking thing.

At a children's birthday party in a park in Paris, eight children and three adults were struck by lightning May 28. Six were seriously injured.

I'm still looking for a time. I see an article at 4:27 PM EDT, updated several times after that. Another at about 1 AM PDT is saying it was posted 15 hours ago = 10 AM PDT = 1 PM EDT, but that's already 7 PM in Paris. I'm going to pick about 4 PM Paris as an estimate. EDIT: The time was about 3:00 PM - see JSAD's post below.

Not much in the charts until the Day level: CapQ Asc exactly conjoined Capsolar Mars. For electricity, CanQ IC hits transiting Uranus. The Cansolar is also under long-term weight of transiting Neptune square its MC.

That NYTimes article also says

The police in Germany said 35 people were taken to the hospital after lightning struck a children’s soccer match on Saturday afternoon in western Germany. Three adults were seriously injured in the strike in Hoppstädten, about 75 miles southwest of Frankfurt.

Thirty-two other people, including 30 children ranging from 9 to 11 years old, were taken to the hospital as a precaution, the German news agency DPA reported.

The game had just ended when lightning struck about 2 p.m., a police spokesman, Dominik Lentz, told the German news channel n-tv.


So 2 PM in Hoppstädten, Germany, more people hurt, but not as many hurt seriously.

In closing out a month in which it seemed a whole lot was always happening, but which had very few specific events, I need to add a record of the gorilla shooting in Cincinnati.

As most of you know, on May 28 a 4-year-old boy snuck into a gorilla pin at the Cincinnati zoo. At first, there was calm, until the crowed began shrieking and freaking, at which point the gorilla grabbed the boy and (as the news media has it) started dragging him around . Zoo officials responded by shooting the gorilla, and - here's what make it newsworthy and more than a local event - it has since put Cincinnati in the national and international news spotlight.

CAPSOLAR: Cincinnati's year was expected to be startling and disruptive. Like most of the eastern half of the country, it's Capsolar is dominated by Uranus squared by Pluto. (Put this in context of political events and voting scheduled there for the rest of the year.)

ARISOLAR: Mostly this says the city would be in the news. Sun exactly squares MC, Mercury closely conjoins Ascendant, and Moon is near IC.

CANLUNAR: The most recent non-dormant lunar ingress was the May 11 Canlunar, with Mars partile conjunct WP. Something violent would be expected to occur and capture mass mind.

Pluto is in long-term square to Capsolar Ascendant. On Saturday, transiting Mars squared CapQ Ascendant. Concurrently, transiting Mars crossed Cansolar Ascendant and conjoined Cansolar Saturn on that angle and squared Cansolar Venus. Neptune remains within 2° of Cansolar IC. (It's a nasty Cansolar, made worse by the transits.) The CanQ brought many planets to the angles showing disturbances and media-type attention.

Over Memorial Day weekend, 64 people were shot (six of them killed) in Chicago in a wave of violence sweeping residential areas:

The story begins talking about Friday night, for example, with the first timed shooting reported in the article occurring at 9:45 PM May 27.

Chicago had experienced 1,177 shootings for the year as of Friday morning, which is a 50% increase for the year. So we'd expect this already to be showing in Year trends.

LUNAR INGRESSES: As I was guessing, the new (May 26) Caplunar has nothing to do with it. It's dormant for Chicago. So were the Liblunar, Canlunar, Arilunar and even the prior Caplunar. Not a single lunar ingress had anything to say for Chicago during this time.

SOLAR INGRESSES: In contrast, Chicago's Capsolar is volatile, as we've seen before. Not only does it have this year's overriding Uranus-Pluto influence - Uranus rising (1°39'), Pluto sq. Asc (1°19'), the two square (1°12') - it also has an exactly angular Moon, only 0°01' from EP for the central coordinates of Chicago. This fits in with the still-active Cansolar from last summer (Chicago had an especially gruesome late 2015, also), with Neptune on IC (2°55'), Saturn rising (3°22'), and the two in square (0°27'); plus a barely foreground Venus that is square the rising Saturn ecliptically (1°15').

TIMING: Why this particular weekend? Well, the holiday weekend was going to be high-risk for them anyway. Maybe it didn't need a further astrological trigger. But did it have one?

The Capsolar wasn't receiving any transit contacts distinctive to Chicago. However... here we go again... CapQ Ascendant squared transiting Mars (1°06' at the first shooting), a contact that persisted through the weekend.

Mars was also moving into a zone of volatile, violent, hurtful transits affecting the world in general, but nothing makes these strikingly relevant for Chicago (viz., Mars conjoined the rising Cansolar Saturn and squared its Venus, but Mars itself wasn't on an Cansolar angle). But the other pot-stirrer was the CanQ, which, at the time of the first shooting, had Asc 21°07' Virgo, MC 23°59' Gemini. This exactly hits the Cansolar's Mars-Pluto opposition - Asc being only 0°02' from square progressed Cansolar Mars at the time of the first murder. It remained in orb of ingress Pluto, and had entered orb of transiting Pluto (which it kept through the weekend). Just to add a little more, CanQ EP was still in orb of Cansolar Uranus and had entered orb of transiting Uranus (which it kept through the weekend).

So there we have it: A deeply volatile and violent solar ingress setup in a troubled place, where a vulnerable weekend met a combination of Mars, Mars-Pluto, then more Plutos, plus some Uranus. It exploded in violence.
