Understanding Jupiter's Fundamental Needs (meditation)

The proposal is that everybody spend about one week on the following meditation, keeping a record of your results and sharing them here. Enjoy!
Fundamental Need of JUPITER: Ambition needs: superiority, assimilation and growth, achievement, success, recognition, exhibition, esteem.
- Ensure that you understand the words of the definition.
- Identify this specified need in yourself. Recognize that you have it. Reflect on how it manifests in you at a simple, basic level, and then as secondary motivations and behaviors that arise from the simpler ones.
- How strong is this need in you compared to other needs? Compared to its strength in other people? How has it expressed itself in you at various stages of your life (from earliest memories through later life stages)?
- Have you been able to satisfy this need? Or has it gone largely unsatisfied?
- What are the worst things in your personality and behavior that arise from this need (and from succeeding or failing at satisfying it)? What are the best things?
- As far as possible, answer these questions about other people you know well.
- For this week or longer, as you meet and interact with other people, observe the presence of this specific need in yourself and in the other(s) during the interaction. What can you observe in terms of both how you share the need with them and how differences in the need’s intensity, your psychological maturity, and other factors produce different expressions.
- Please share the results of this exploration on this thread and feel free to engage in such discussion as arises.
- Was this exercise valuable to you? If so, what made it valuable? If not, what would have made it more valuable?

Jumping to the last point for exploration....
This is a timely exercise for me with Jupiter in Taurus opposite my Jupiter in Scorpio. In feeling my way through the first points for exploration I came upon the fact that what I thought were my Jupiter needs, were not mine at all but the Jupiter needs of my older sister whose Jupiter is conjunct mine. I did not even know what my Jupiter needs were once I stripped away hers.
A month or so ago she texted she would be visiting for dads birthday and if I would be able and wanting to hang out with her the Saturday of her visit time. That's tomorrow.
In trying to convince myself that I do in fact have my own Jupiter needs, which are altogether different from hers based on the tonality of my entire chart, I have decided that tomorrow I will not be going to a bougie lunch and shopping trip with her like she suggested because I dont want to be alone with her in a car, or any where else but in my home with my family around me.
So I'm still working on this this meditation, but I wanted you all to know that it's very worthwhile.
In an age with subliminal messages of marketing strategies up the ying yang it is a very worthwhile question to ask ourselves, do we really need this (insert product name here) or are we somehow allowing another's Jupiter influence what we think we need, does this purchase of product truly align with our character or are we just being swept up and manipulated into thinking this is what we need.

Fascinating and insightful.
We know you have strong Jupiter needs on your own. The question in my mind, then, is how do these show? Perhaps it is not in ways we normally thing. Jupiter was a surprisingly hard planet to nail down in terms of exact character traits.
I know that you don't like to think anybody is better than anybody else, so this runs across the grain of asking, "How strong is your need for SUPERIORITY and how do you demonstrate your superiority above others?" (I bet you're backtracking from the question as you read it - this doesn't match your Aquarius temperament.)
Jupiter is eating and making use of food to grow, so this is the root of other Jupiter associations with "assimilating and growing" other things, such as experiences of life or knowledge. And how do you relate to and experience achievement, success, and recognition? Jupiter needs to be seen so that others can compare them - it is visible and explicit, while Saturn is hidden, And how do you relate to the idea of others' esteem (and win and hold their esteem - I bet part of it is with simple excellence).
Perhaps these questions help get outside of the usual Jupiter thinking patterns?
And, of course, your strong Jupiter coexists with your even stronger Pluto.

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback Jim.
When I paused to reflect on your words, a little voice inside said
well, apparently I'm a very needy person...With all these Angular planets and tight aspects and mundane stuff, I'm a very very needy person.
But you all ready knew that.lol.
You are right about feeling superior, all that you said about me is true. I feel it is slippery slope thinking that I am better, that anyone is better then anyother. I heard the beautiful Jodi Foster give an interview when she came to town, and she was talking about getting old and how she realized that she had been competing with her younger self, still trying to be that youth and be exceptional, but that it was making her miserable because she knew she would never her younger self.
That kinda sums up my feelings of Superiority, which I do strive for everyday. I feel that my Jupiter need for feeling superior is grounded in my striving to be the best Veronica born 2.18.1971 that I can be today, to be the very best version of myself today, a superior Veronica today to the one I was yesterday. Day by day, bit by bit I strive to become more loving, more flexible, more compassionate, more honest, more patient, more understanding and more everything then I was yesterday.
I feel the biggest way Jupiter needs are met in my life is through education, educating myself about the world, reading about others, reading and then taking what I've read and comparing it to beliefs I've held, beliefs my peers hold, my community and integrating the information into patterns of behavior, new thoughts and ways of seeing the world.
I do also really love food, good whole healthy food of a vast variety and I love cooking and baking. I dont like killing, and I have deep feelings towards vegetables, and I talk to my food and give deep thanks and am deeply contemplative while eating, envisioning the carrot becoming a part of me, and how the sun and water and soil became part of the carrot and now part of me. It's very hard for me to eat sometimes, and inspite of my Jupiter needs being strong I eat like some sort of exotic pedigree mongoose. Quality over quantity for sure.

I am still musing over this exercise in examining my Jupiter needs and the Jupiter needs of others.
My Jupiter is in Scorpio (10°) and square my MC at 9° Aquarius. It also is conjunct my Neptune (8°) and my Moon (7°).
These placements and aspects show I have some very strong Jupiter needs that appear for the most part as strong feelings for family, community, higher institutions such as education, and a deep feeling of being interconnected and an integral aspect of the totality of the galaxy in which we exist.
From Jim's teachings I have learned that Jupiter is not considered a personal planet like Mars, Venus, Mercury and the luminaries. It moves slower and therefore most people born in my graduating class, people born at a similar time, have Jupiter in Scorpio near Neptune.
What I feel defines my chart and thus myself though is its angularity and aspects to the rest of my chart.
In working with these ideas and trying to grok what make my Jupiter in Scorpio needs different from my older cousins Jupiter in Libra needs, or my younger nieces Jupiter in Saggitarius needs for example, my mind sums up that each sign seems to have it's own culture, or background noise that distinctly flavors the expression of Jupiter. Culture meaning both the human component of civilization but also on a deeper level akin to a petri dish culture of the entire environmental factors beyond the obvious human social norms, mores, ideals and values. Each sign seems to have it's own unique culture in which the essence of Jupiter seeks expression.
So while Jupiter has it's own needs, and I personally have my own character to play out and find expression for, my Jupiter needs are similiar to others with Jupiter in Scorpio, but also my Jupiter needs are similiar to others who have Jupiter square MC, aspecting Neptune or the moon regardless of the sign Jupiter is in their charts.
My last SLR has a strong Jupiter and I had an experience at work that seems to show this. We are working through the Dewey Decimal system weeding out 60,000 books from th he collection. The sections were divided simply into 000s, 100s, 200s, 300s, 400s....up to the 900s. I had previously weeded out the 600s and 700s, and anticipated being assigned the 800s but my supervisor asked me to instead focus on the 7000 books that need to be reviewed in the 200s which is the call number for Religion. How very timely for this LR, and for this solunars project.
How do I determine which of these books goes directly to the recycle bin and which gets sent off to be resold, regifted, repurposed to another library. How do I put a value on a person's personal experience of God/Spirit/ religion/ sacred texts? Well, it is soul wrenching and sad honestly and I wish we could just keep them all, but the University is reshaping and remodeling and upgrading and all that and very much out with the old and in with the new so as to attract potential students ($).
Before I learned astrology this task would have been so much simpler for me. All the books that didnt align with my perspective, books that espoused slavery, misogyny, elitism, militarism, colonialism for example would have just been simply dumped. Yet now I am finding deeper value in books that dont resonate with me on first inspection, books written by some soul going through some sort of transit or progression that inspired in them a deep desire to share themselves and their views. How can that be simply tossed away without a second thought?
I still have so much work to do with this exercise, I'm half way through the 200s and instead of feeling like Religion is a lie sham or waste I'm beginning to feel that through our Jupiter is how we show our deepest most special specialness to the rest of the world, where we are vulnerable, sensitive and deeply courageous.
