Jan 6-13, 1842, Kabul,Afghanistan
"Decisive Afghan victory, nearly the entire British/Indian army either perished or captured"
16,499 killed or captured - 4,500 British soldiers & 12,000 civilians died

"Following an uprising in Kabul, Major General Sir William Elphinstone negotiated an agreement with Wazir Akbar Khan... by which his army was to withdraw to the British garrison at Jalalabad, more than 90 miles away. As the army and its numerous dependents and camp-followers began its march, it came under attack from Afghan tribesmen. Many of the column died of exposure, frostbite or starvation or were killed during the fighting." "In 2013, a writer for The Economist called the retreat 'the worst British military disaster until the fall of Singapore exactly a century later.'"

Army's final stand was January 13 near the village of Gandamak, Afghanistan (34N17, 70E02).I'll use noon on that day for a working event time. Note that this was the day of the Capsolar AND Caplunar, and most of the week's combat was under the old Capsolar.

Year: 1841 Capsolar
(There is at least indication of hardship & loss in the area.)
Venus on MC (0°11')
Saturn on Dsc (4°13')
Jupiter on Dsc (9°50')

Half-year: Cansolar
(This is the one chart that transitions the two Capsolars, and perhaps it means victory for the local inhabitants - the "home team." It's very hard to judge this as indicating a loss, or even necessarily the hardship of war.)

-- Neptune on MC (8°26')

Quarter: Libsolar
(Utterly appropriate for war and great losses.)

Mars on Dsc (1°47')
-- Mars-Saturn conj. (2°39' in mundo)

Day: Capsolar Quotidian & Transits
For the final day of combat, t. Mars precisely (precisely!) conjoins CapQ MC (and was close for several days), with solar Saturn near Dsc. This also means that Mars had been crossing the 1841 Capsolar's MC for several days.

Day: Cansolar Quotidian & Transits
For the final day, CanQ Ascendant squared transiting and ingress Neptunes and transiting Mars exactly squared Cansolar Moon.
