Ding Liren, born Oct 24 1992 in Wenzhou, China at an unknown time, is the current World Chess Champion. (Magnus Carlsen declined to defend his title the last time around, citing boredom and burnout with the format after holding the title for 10 years.)

He's a Libra Sun, Virgo Moon ( :D ), Gemini Mars with a few remarkable aspects that we can probably trust; using a Noon birth time:

Venus oc Mars 0°06'
Mars tr Pluto 1°43'
Uranus co Neptune 1°55'
Venus sx Jupiter 2°33'
Mercury tr Mars 3°11'
Mars op Neptune 3°53'

Despite currently holding the title, he has widely been considered the underdog going into this match, as he looked thoroughly shocked to have won it in the first place and has performed rather poorly ever since (compared to his previous performance).

Today, he beat challenger Gukesh Dommaraju in game 1 with the black pieces in what can definitely be described as an upset.

Transits for the start of game 1 (5:00pm in Singapore):
t. Neptune oc r. Saturn 08'
p. Pluto co r. Mercury 11'
p. Jupiter oc r. Mercury 19'
p. Sun tr r. Jupiter 24'
p. Venus co r. Uranus 25'
p. Jupiter oc p. Pluto 30'
t. Mars oc s. Jupiter 39'
t. Venus co r. Neptune 41'
t. Uranus op r. Mercury 59' (?)

I can't figure out where Ding was for his recent SSR, and it's not super relevant since we don't have a birth time anyway, but I am still checking transits to the slower-ish planets for that chart (cast for his birthplace).

Transits for the closing ceremonies, Dec 14 2024:
t. Mars oc s. Jupiter 09'
t. Neptune oc r. Saturn 10'
p. Pluto co r. Mercury 11'
t. Uranus op r. Mercury 15'
p. Jupiter oc r. Mercury 19'
p. Venus co r. Uranus 21'
p. Sun sx r. Jupiter 27'
t. Mars oc s. Pluto 41'
t. Mercury co r. Venus 46'
t. Mercury oc r. Mars 52'
t. Pluto sq r. Sun 53'

Overall, seems rather good for him to hold onto his title, despite Neptune-Saturn.
