US Airways Flight 1549, "Miracle on the Hudson"

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Considering US Airways Flight 1549, piloted to a successful landing on the Hudson River by Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, how might the charts look different from the many transportation disasters we have studied over the years. It draws attention for its uniqueness, its impact, and the fact that it occurred the exact day of the Capsolar. It also stood, at the time, as a triumph of heroism and a victory for the city - would this show, instead of the airplane disaster?

The plane was piloted to a landing on the Hudson River (40N46'10'', 74W00'17'') January 15, 2009, after a midair collision with birds disabled both engines. Collision with the birds occurred at 3:27 PM EST, landing 208 seconds later (therefore, apparently 3:31 PM). The landing chart had some tough planets on the angles but, most closely, Uranus at Midheaven. Sun had moved most of a degree into Capricorn at the time.
