Judge Neil Gorsuch

This evening, Pres. Trump appointed Federal Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill a vanacy on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Judge Gorsuch was born August 29,1967 in Denver, CO. You'll read a lot about him the rest of this week. We was announced as an appointee to the Supreme Court at an event held today (January 31) at 8 PM at the White House.

He's has a Leo Sun and either a Taurus or Gemini Moon. The nicest aspect in his chart is an exact Sun-Venus conjunction, and the worst is a close (maybe partile) Mars-Neptune conjunction (which also sextiles a Uranus-Pluto conjunction and squares Jupiter).

At his 8 PM nomination, 19° Leo was rising, meaning that his Sun-Venus and Mercury had recently risen. Neptune is probably opposite his Mercury right now, which does not bode well for a confirmation process that is expected, ultimately, to be easier than most nominees would have faced.

At noon on the day of his birth, Moon was 29° Taurus. Since Saturn is currently at 30° Scorpio, it is highly unlikely he was born anywhere in the middle part of the day - say, avoiding 9 AM to 3 PM (and with Saturn advancing into the first degree of Sagittarius - Sagittarius! - during the likely period of his confirmation hearings.

Moon might be square Uranus and/or Pluto.

On the other hand, if he's born anywhere near midday, he is approaching a progressed Full Moon (with transiting Uranus planning to visit it soon), which would be significant and fitting; but it's hard to justify that Saturn transit to natal Moon.

Regardless of birth time, he has a progressed Mars-Uranus square, which is starkly daring for someone seeking to move into a more austere role.

A totally wild preliminary guess at a birth time would put progressed Moon trine his natal Jupiter right now, which means he would have been born within two hours either side of 8 AM (and, avoiding midday, that means more toward the beginning of that than the end). The effect might not be for right now; if he is confirmed, it would be equally fitting for his joining the court. So far, with little conviction, I'm expecting a 6 AM to 10 AM birth time.

His last SLR was January 10. It seems highly unlikely that Saturn to his Moon was on the angles, as it was for the middle of this period (with Mars and more as well).

One is tempted to see transiting Jupiter and Pluto on angles (which also brings Uranus). One time for this is with a Moon about 24°26' Taurus. One is with a Moon 27°50' Taurus (but that one brings some problems). Going with the former gives a birth time of 4:00 AM MST, which is a staggering (and not a little intimidating chart) suitable of the scale of Supreme Court justice when it is relocated to Washington but seems to early (unless the Moon-Jupiter progression is still a couple of months away). The latter gives a time of about 10:30 AM, which has some serious problems in Washington.

Neither looks all that impressive as a natal horoscope. The 4 AM chart is interesting because transiting Uranus is near, and soon will cross, the natal MC; and Jupiter transits natal IC right now, atop progressed Sun. Transiting Pluto also squares progressed Moon of this chart, within a fifth of a degree.

OI think I might suggest that people play with a chart for 4:00 AM.
