Sean, welcome to Solunars, happy new year, and happy birth day!

First, more important than any solar return right now, the strongest current factor in your chart is Pluto's transit to your Sun. This is transformative of life-direction and one's sense of oneself. You last had a similar influence when Pluto squared your Sun around 1979-80. The present two-year pass runs from the start of 2018 to the end of 2019, with exact crossings March 30 and May 15 in 2018 and, in 2019, January 17, August 14, and November 19.

Your new Sidereal Solar Return occurs January 11, 2019, 9:49:54 AM MST in Sun City West, AZ (unless you decide to go somewhere else, which I suggest you don't). Overall, it promises a happy birthday indeed, with Jupiter conjunct Midheaven and Venus widely square Ascendant.

The Jupiter isn't left entirely to its own simple devices, though. It closely squares Neptune. This makes the birthday no less happy, but advises a few things to watch out for as the year progresses, because not everything is quite what it seems. The basic meaning is "unreasoning optimism or faith." The fact that optimism is unreasoned doesn't mean it's wrong, but one should make allowances that, just maybe, things look better than they are. It's an influence under which one can be fooled and "taken to the cleaners," so be unusually careful who you trust where money and your well-being are concerned. Innocent expressions, which very from sweet to sour, are: Having a rollicking good time of amplified enjoyment and entertainment; enthusiasms that soar high, and then amount to little; or disillusionment, exploitation, and being cheated.

Arizona has an emerging wine industry that is starting to produce some remarkable product up in Verde Valley and Cottonwood, with good wineries there and, especially, in Jerome. You can express Jupiter-Neptune as exceptional wine, or as soul-clutching beauty if you visit, say, the Utah national parks. Otherwise, just keep an eye on practicalities.

Your natal planets aren't particularly involved, except that your Venus is widely conjunct Ascendant, which simply adds to the "have a good time" vibe.

Jim, Thank you very much for your analysis - I'm particularly struck by the dates for Pluto/Sun crossings you identified. On 24 May, 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. In the interim, medication has dropped my PSA by 91% and I'm now scheduled to begin a 9wk round of radiation on Jan 18, 2019. My Drs are quite optimistic but based on your comments re Neptune, it seems a 'wait & see' mindset would be advised.

thanks again,
