LONG-TERM (Solar Ingress) PATTERNS
For the United States, the 12 months beginning January 15, 2019 are dominated by Uranus on IC square Sun on Eastpoint (aspect 0°08' wide in RA). Sun-Uranus signals startling events, which, historically, have included surprise attacks, sudden changes in leadership, and technology breakthroughs.
URANUS is most angular (2°36' from IC), predicting explosions (literal or metaphorical), sudden rupture or eruption, shock, surprise, overflowing normal bounds, and disclosures and revelations. Uranian events often have profound social impact to the point of defining the character of an era.
SUN (EP 1°53') concentrates attention on the government, especially the head of state, with increased government intervention or heightened perception of government’s presence in people’s lives. Sun's aspects to Uranus and Pluto infer rebellion against present leadership and rejection of prevailing political views. Sun-Pluto brings disrespect for the law or those forces that create it and enforce it, which sometimes means removing those in power.
MERCURY CONJOINS SATURN (2°46') in the foreground. Expect restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity relating to transportation and communication. Information flow is interrupted and rationed. Data integrity is doubted: cybersecurity remains a higher priority than cyber-expansion. Economic narrowing and backtracking on economic recovery interrupt commerce: more newspapers go out of business and more retail businesses close their doors.
Reinforcing the message of economic crisis, a MARS-JUPITER square (2°07') exists only mundanely, i.e., is geographically distinctive to Washington. This could be as slight as a few more government shutdowns or as ravaging as a market crash, but probably will be something between. Resources are squandered and stretched past their capacity. Belief-driven aggression accelerates. Bigots have louder voices. In nature, as in human affairs, expect stormy weather.
MERCURY CONJUNCT PLUTO (2°32' in mundo) anticipates major collisions of information, communication, and ideas. This suggests opposing factions in Congress will again engage passionately, unlike the tepid, rigid polarization of recent years. Investigations drill deeply into untapped data to disclose information that changes the prevailing paradigm, reframing how people think. Also, expect cyber attacks, including remote undermining of critical communication and cyber-control networks.
With Saturn in Sagittarius all year, immigration, aviation, elitism, hierarchical economic separation, and nationalism (anti-internationalism) dominate the public discussion.
Arisolar (Apr 15)
Due to a dormant Cansolar in July, the Arisolar is the operative Quarter chart for six months, from mid-April until mid-October. It is a chart of great severity. Saturn rises within 0°02' in Washington. Pluto is 2°34' below Ascendant, so that Saturn conjoins Pluto (2°32' in mundo). Together, Saturn and Pluto are PVP square Moon, with Moon-Saturn partile.
With SATURN RISING so closely, expect loss and deprivation, whether loss of property or human life. Expect the stock market to falter, the economy to narrow, and banks to be imperiled. Damage from natural disasters increases. Foremost, with this Moon-Saturn-Pluto trio, human cruelty rises as human hearts harden and sadness spreads like a dark cloud.
Saturn-Pluto in particular brings dramatic hardships, sometimes with an apocalyptic sense of irrevocable loss or separation. Moon-Saturn is marked by sacrifice, loss, and sadness. Moon-Pluto, intensifying the rest, emphasizes separation, alienation, and departures. The emotional impact of genocide matches these aspects, though of course other physical outcomes are possible.
MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
- Transiting Pluto on Capsolar Eastpoint all month.
- Transiting Mars sq. Cansolar Moon & Ascendant & conj. Cansolar MC May 6-13
- Transiting Mars on Capsolar Descendant May 19-22.
SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingress) PATTERNS
Caplunar (Apr 25)
The Caplunar covers April 25 to May 23, especially the first week, April 25-May 3. Uranus sets (1°16') conjunct foreground Sun and in partile (0°27') PVP square to Mars on the Vertex. The basic tone of this is startling and explosive, taking us all by surprise!
Each of these astrological factors say much the same thing. Foremost, angular Uranus normally signifies sudden rupture or eruption, shock, surprise, explosiveness, and overflowing normal boundaries and limitations. Many Uranian events involve disclosures and revelations. With Sun-Uranus aspects, we again expect the psychologically (if not physically) startling and explosive. With Sun's foreground placement, these likely refer directly to the president or, otherwise, to the government as a whole. Historic events under this combination include sudden violence, changes in foreign relationships, and changes in leadership through death, coup, or resignation. Finally, Mars-Uranus reiterates the explosive, psychological “bombshells,” and perhaps startling violence. (All of these possibilities are amplified by Moon conjunct Pluto.)
Jupiter passes through Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco (predicting April rain in Seattle is an easy call; perhaps other Jupiter events will emerge). Saturn and Pluto bring hardship along the whole length of the Mississippi River valley and along a wide swath of the Midwest.
CapQ MC squares transiting Uranus 4/26, which is the outstanding Uranian day this week. In the more active CanQ, two Saturn's are angular 4/25, Pluto on 4/27, and transiting Venus hovers in orb of MC all week.
Arilunar (May 3)
The Arilunar covers May 3-10 and reiterates much of what the Caplunar said but without the Mars themes. Uranus is most angular (square MC 1°14'), with Sun widely foreground. Everything said above about Uranus angular and Sun-Uranus collaboration applies to the new week especially.
Additionally, Moon makes three important aspects. First, Moon conjoins Uranus (0°18' in mundo), which mostly reiterates Uranus themes. This is a week of very big surprises. -- The other two Moon aspects are connected: Moon conjoins Mercury 0°56' and squares Pluto 1°52'. Though we can interpret Moon-Mercury and Moon-Pluto separately, I think the weight goes to the partile background Mercury-Pluto square highlighted by Moon's touch, which says that this week's surprise is information, likely exposed from deep investigation. Under Mercury-Pluto, conventional and unconventional ideas collide as new information's impact stuns the intellect and repatterns how people think about things.
Please check the astro-maps for this Arilunar: They have enormous complexity, both om the West Coast (Mars-Jupiter-Neptune, with Mars-Jupiter straddling Los Angeles) and, especially, a converge of more than half the planets through the middle part of the country: Perhaps the Moon-Saturn-Uranus crossings from Iowa to Louisiana are most worrisome. The Texas gulf coast has Venus-Pluto with Saturn.
CanQ MC stays in orb of transiting Venus the first few days; however, by 5/9, with Venus withdrawn, Q MC squares Saturn-Pluto, foreshadowing the week that follows.
Canlunar (May 10)
The Canlunar, covering May 10-16, closely resembles the Arisolar. Saturn is less than half a degree from Ascendant with Saturn conjunct Pluto (2°28') the dominant aspect. Moon near Descendant opposes Saturn and Pluto mundanely. As said for the Arisolar:
Additionally, Moon squares Venus (1°20'), which highlights a half-degree Venus-Pluto square. (Venus is not angular, but important only due to the Moon aspect.) This unleashes deeper, more intimate emotion about these events. Venus-Pluto combinations sponsor acute changes in relationships, often through loss of loved ones and the destruction of homes and community.
Finally, Mercury is widely foreground, conjunct a non-foreground Uranus. Aside from the possibility (always present with Mercury-Uranus) of a major air or other transportation accident, this reiterates the theme of information disclosures and revelations.
If this chart shows crisis somewhere in the country, it is most likely to be in Florida and then along the entire Atlantic seaboard (from Miami to Portland) where Saturn-Pluto saturate the space. With their square to Venus, this reinforces the idea of rain but also of human-tragic stories. Also targeted by Saturn-Pluto (see the second Canlunar map, for planets square the angles) is a wide patch mid-country from the longitudes of Minnesota (and due south) west to central Texas (and due north).
Perhaps easing some pressure, Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune are the only planets crossing CapQ angles this week. Venus begins the week and Jupiter-Neptune ends it, leaving midweek for the Canlunar to express itself unimpeded. The most volatile, harsh day is 5/14 when CapQ Asc opposes ingress Mars as its EP opposes transiting Saturn.
Liblunar (May 16)
The Liblunar covers two weeks, May 16-30. Diverging sharply from the Caplunar and other ingresses of the month, it likely means a quick shift in tone. Jupiter is 0°38' from Westpoint and Neptune 2° from MC; they are square within about 2° in RA; and Sun (on the Antivertex) is in 0°23' PVP square with Neptune.
Jupiter-Neptune has been elusive to interpret this year, and that elusiveness may be the main point. Its essence is unreasoned optimism, typically offering more show than substance. With Jupiter-Neptune, a confidence game often is afoot which, in politics, tends to mean posturing and maneuvering for advantage, or an empty show of problem-solving. Scandal may ruin reputations, but sometimes they are enhanced like TV ratings; that is, many little emperors and empresses have no clothes, but it isn't clear from the aspect whether they're getting away with their pretense or getting called out for public nudity. There is an aura of royalty and great farce in this Sun-Jupiter-Neptune triplet.
At least the two weeks of this surreal optimism probably will see the stock market recover the losses of the prior week.
Lunar aspects suggest that the nobles' nakedness gets called out but, perhaps, nobody cares. In addition to the Moon-Pluto square, Moon makes mundane oppositions with a Venus-Uranus conjunction. Moon with Pluto and Uranus normally blows the masks off the actors, but Venus-Uranus added to Jupiter-Neptune makes for vaudevillian buffoonery or a timeout (for the Memorial Day holiday?) for a little fun at the fair.
Western Kansas may see late-season twisters, with a Sun-Neptune crossing. California earns its "sunny" nickname. Miami experiences something violent (and perhaps other spots along the curve from Miami to Fargo).
Capsolar Jupiter & Neptune touch CapQ angles the first day of this week to get us in the mood. Transiting Neptune squares Asc 5/19, then transiting Jupiter crosses Q Dsc 5/22 (concurrent with a CanQ Jupiter crossing).
