Solar Fire. You put in the natal chart. Fine. You click on return, or harmonic or transit, that's what you get.
But if you click on locality, enter the locality you want the chart calculated for, you get a chart calculated for the same time as the natal, but with the coordinates of the place you entered.
Solar Fire help file says: "Relocated - calculated for the exact same time as the base chart, but for a different latitude and longitude."
Now I don't know about anybody else, but when I want a chart relocated, I want the chart for that locality calculated at the birth time but with the time zone of the location. I expect both charts, natal and relocated, to have the same Universal Time, not the same MC and just a different ASC.
If I want to take a chart cast for the end of August in 1950 fro? m the east coast to the midwest to the mountain states to california, I want it calculated for 6:20 AM EDT, 4:20 AM CST, (no daylight time,) 3:20 AM MST (also no daylight time,) and 3:20 AM PDT.
Is that how others do it? Or is Solar Fire right instead of weird.
Or am I just doing everything wrong?

Yes, and SF takes care of that. I'll have to look when i get home, but my recollection is that when i press Shift+F12 and put in a new location then click ok, it doesnt look ON THAT SCREEN like it's changing time zone (e.g. mine says 4:13 AM CST even for Los Angeles, which of course is correct) but the finished chart has all the zone info correct.

Mine doesn't. But mine does weird things. Right now the lines for the planets on the mundane maps are all black because it wouldn't show the mundane map unless I deleted the points color file.
And the manual says it doesn't. So that's weird.

Re: Relocating a chart in Solar Fire
Here's my SF 8.x. (Jupe, please delete the attachment when you're done with it.)
I'm born 4:14 AM CST. When I pick my natal chart and do Shift+F12 (or Chart | Locality) and type my current address, it's misleading. It looks like it leaves it at 4:13 AM (greyed out so you can't change it) but changes the time zone to PST.
However, when I click OK to do the chart, it updates the time. It also calculates the chart correctly. (I think it's greyed out so that you don't modify it - let the program modify it.)

Mine is doing odd things. I'm going to delete and reinstall again.
