3:30 AM call from 75' Diving Vessel with 39 people aboard, engulfed in flames. It sank 20 yards offshore in 64' of water off Platts Harbor, on the north side of Santa Cruz Island.

5 people, all crew members, evacuated (on a pleasure boat named the Grape Escape.) All crew were awake and able to jump off. Passengers were asleep below.

34 people are missing. A half dozen fire departments are working with the Coast Guard. It's probably a recovery now, not a rescue. They are searching for people who may have made it to shore.

A 14-year-old boy killed five members of his family (father, step-mother, and three siblings) last night then surrendered to police. He called 911, saying he was in the basement when he heard gunfire upstairs, but by 3:00 AM he had confessed.

Fire season has seriously begun in Southern California. This one burst across 1,000 acres overnight near Murrieta, CA, and at least 1,400 so far, with almost no containment. Mandatory evacuation orders with encouragement for others to leave.

Orange Countty Register says it began in La Cresta, though it is broadly being called a Murrieta fire. The time it was sighted/reported had Saturn exactly rising.

As in all recent years, the CAPSOLAR for the region has an exactly angular Neptune (less than a degree from IC), though this year it is squared by Jupiter. For La Cresta, though, the CANSOLAR has Mars 0°13' from square Asc.

The only non-dormant lunar ingress is the ARILUNAR with Uranus exactly setting (typical of "flash wildfires").

For the DAY, CapQ MC conjoined transiting Uranus, but the big one - which will only get worse in the next couple of days - is transiting Sun-Mercury-Mars conjoined just off Capsolar MC. (I'm not eager for Mars to oppose Capsolar Neptune from its MC in a few days.)

One, possibly two, unusual tornados touched down, damaging and collapsing both homes and businesses. The local hospital was severely damaged. The roads were closed till just a few minutes ago (just before Noon) because of the debris and power lines down.

This was an unusual storm in that the tornado(s) were formed at the front of the storm instead of at the rear, so there was almost no warning - just what's that noise? Grab the kids!! Run for the cellar!! So while a few people were hurt, it's amazing nobody was killed. Sioux Falls suffered severe floods a couple years ago, and rebuilt buildings were required to adhere to much stricter codes. (That worked!)

Yemeni Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, blasted two important Saudi oil installations in Abqaiq with drones, sites that process more than half of Saudi crude oil. (This, of course, will cause critical oil shortages and raised prices.)

The time of 4 AM is when Al-Jazeera said the security teams started dealing with the fires. The attack was probably at least a little earlier. (UPDATE: 9/17 NYT gave 3:30 AM.)

United Auto Workers went out on strike last night - the first time that industry has done so in 12 years.

My main point in posting this: Think Jupiter-Neptune (which are back in partile square). Historic records show numerous high-profile strikes occur during major Jupiter-Neptune aspects. Early this year, for example, we had a stream of teacher strikes, the first such wave in a long time - and now this one, pretty much on schedule.

Nancy Pelosi has called a meeting of the entire Democratic Caucus for tomorrow at 4 PM Eastern.

Seven freshman Democratic House representatives with security backgrounds (including none of the "Squad" Trump likes to blast at) wrote an Op-Ed in the Washington Post laying out the case against Trump's handling of National Security published last night.

The calls for handing the complaint by the whistleblower to the Congress as required under the law are almost constant.

The timing of the witholding of the military aid from the Ukraine, and that it was not requested it be withheld by the US Miliatry nor by the State Department.

Something's up.

It does look, as of right now (could change), like Trump is in the crosshairs.

I find it so strange that the mundane astrology circles in general are not even mentioning his progressed New Moon a week ago as this broke.

Mrs. Pelosi is making an announcement at 5:00 PM (eastern) today. After her meeting with the Democratic caucus at 4:00 PM.

She said the President called her this morning to discuss gun violence, and told her he would be addressing the United Nations later today and was planning to say he thought all the other countries "should reject globalism and embrace nationalism." At the United Nations. I guess he's going for laughs again.

BTW, this is not an impeachment hearing. This is to open an inquiry as to whether or not there is enough evidence to hold an impeachment hearing.

In general, first there's a Grand Jury, then an indictment then a trial, and either a conviction or an aquittal.

This is the same as the Grand Jury. Impeachment is the indictment. The Senate holds the trial, but there won't be one, because McConnell won't allow it. So don't get ahead of yourselves. There won't be a trial. This isn't an impeachment. It's an inquiry. That's all.

At 4:00 PM Eastern, exactly, Nancy Pelosi stepped out on the stage, stepped up to the podium. She laid out the history, then laid out the case.
At 4:05 PM exactly, she announced the House of Representatives was moving forward with an official Impeachment inquiry.
She thanked committee heads and members of the six house committees who would be moving forward with this, and quoted both Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin. She walked off the stage at 4:06:30 PM to most reporters silent (just one woman who didn't understand this was an announcement, not a press conference.)

There will be a roll-call vote tomorrow morning so Republicans can put themselves on record for or against.

Normally I'm good at time zones, but for some reason, on this forum I'm not. It's understandable working with Twitter, but there's no excuse for this.

Chuck Todd and Joe Kennedy Senator Louisana are really going at it on MTP Daily. Chuck just accused Kennedy of trying to gaslight the nation.

The Nanfangao Bridge collapsed, dropping cars and an oil tanker onto fishing boats below. Around a dozen injured, at least 6 missing. The oil tanker caught on fire after crashing on the boats.

The center of Typhoon Mitag passed east of Taiwan on Monday night and early Tuesday, but the outer winds gusting up to 85 mph affected the island before the storm moved to the northeast. The storm injured 12 people, felled trees, damaged vehicles and caused power outages around the island.
