Nine people killed and at least eight others injured by one or more shooters. The first shootings were at "a bar favored by immigrants"; the others were nearby. BBC and AP gave the time as about 10:00 PM local time.

Several suspects are sought. One has been apprehended.

UPDATE (2/20): The Jupiter theme I suspected is now evident: The bars in question were "favored by immigrants" and the shooters are being characterized as having "right-wing extremist, racist motives," as Chancellor Merkel said. NYTimes characterizes the primary shooter as "driven by racism and diffuse conspiracy theories [and] ethnic hatred." One suspect and his mother have now been found "shot dead" in the shooter's apartment early this morning.

The shootings began as Moon and Pluto were on IC, Jupiter square Asc, and Venus setting.

So of course the judge has to be corrupt.

Who wants to bet on how long after he's sentenced Trump will pardon Stone?

Hey, I'm not taking that bet I'm not that foolish.

What's strange to me is... why hasn't he pardoned him already? He's been found guilty - that part is done. He doesn't have to wait for a sentence, which becomes moot if the crime is dissolved. - He'd have to wait for sentencing if he's only going to commute the sentence, but not for a pardon. (Perhaps it's to have a better story about the "corrupt" judge?)

He may not know he can pardon him now. He waited till Arpaio was sentenced. I donno maybe he thinks it's more dramatic.

I know NYS has enough on Stone to put him away for 20 years. So I hope they arrest him at his press conference gloating on being pardoned by Trump, but they probably will wait till after the election.

At opening today, the DJIA dropped nearly a thousand points (and currently is 760 point down).

This is not a U.S.-specific effect but, rather, a world phenomenon. South Korea and Italy markets floundered over the weekend because of Wuhan coronavirus surges, and the world is reacting to that in general. Nonetheless, historically significant shifts like this do also show in U.S. charts as a local effect.

Both the Capsolar and Caplunar for Washington are laden with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction with a luminary on an angle. Transiting Saturn is conjunct the Washington Capsolar MC, for which I wrote in the monthly forecast:

This important aspect must not be underestimated. Great tragedies have occurred under Saturn's transit to Capsolar MC of a place, which anticipates a great tragedy for the United States or, perhaps, for its head of state. Loss of life, property, and hope is in the air.

At the very least, it's a tough aspect! It's greater impact is because, concurrently, Saturn conjoins Capsolar Mercury worldwide.

The CapQ and CanQ are both very Mars-driven right now - with exact events yesterday and tomorrow, all having 2° orbs so, roughly, a plus-minus two-day reach. For example, CapQ EP for Washington is currently just leaving opposition to ingress Mars as CapQ MC just moves into orb of the square. With transiting Mercury square the Mars, this will be a day of frayed nerves, a sense of alarm, and enormous, rapid-fire activity, though that is no reason to think this is a permanent wound to the market. (It's just what happened today.)

NYC doesn't yet have Saturn on its Capsolar MC. Steve et al., you might want to make a note to watch transiting Saturn reach 5° Capricorn, the NYC MC, for market-specific impact.

Just for the record - since Tropical mundane astrologers will be looking at yesterday' New Moon chart for answers - there is nothing particularly going on in the chart for Washington. However, it's worth noting that the New Moon is exactly square Asc for NYC, which accurately highlights a geographic location for stirred activity today.

When Kobe Bryant and his daughter died last month, everyone wanted to know the impact on LA and the charts were rather quiet. Today, though, the whole city is turning out, on 2/24, for Kobe who wore jersey 24 and his daughter who wore #2. Events start at the Staples Center at 10 AM.

Los Angeles is under an angular Neptune for the year - EP of Capsolar 0°03' - but that's been the case every year for many years. The current Caplunar is harsh - Mars on EP 0°24' (I don't know that it fits).

Though labelled a celebration for life, the mourners will definitely be out today: CapQ MC for LA is 1° which puts ingress Sun with transiting Saturn and Pluto atop it on CapQ MC, a city's mourning of its stellar, solar hero.

A "shooting rampage" on the Molson Coors Beverage Company campus occurred, resulting in 7 deaths (including the shooter). Police responded at 2:11 PM so the shooting likely began soon before that. UPDATE: USA Today says the police were called at 2:08. Texts to employees went out about 10 minutes later, alerting them of the danger. UPDATE 2/27: The same news sources that said 7 deaths yesterday are now saying 6. The shooter and all victims were employees. The 2:08 PM time for calling police puts Saturn 0°37' past Dsc, Moon 4° from MC (but looking closer), Pluto 4° past Dsc.

At 2:11 PM, Saturn had just set and Moon was on MC.

Yesterday was a record-breaker: The DJIA fell 1,1,91 points, it's largest single-day drop in history (but not in percentage: This IIRC 4.4% drop is a fraction of 15% drops in the early 1930s.)

It's been tumbling for days, but perhaps the place to stop study it is for market close yesterday (which is the time that the record single-drop was confirmed). So, let's see February 27, 2020, 4:00 PM EST for Washington (with cross-checking the quotidians for Wall Street).

There's plenty of Saturn, of course, plus Mars on both quotidians. Statistically, we know Mars is on Q angles (but mostly for NYC) on days of extreme amounts of market activity.

As hinted would happen soon, the U.S. today signed a deal with the Taliban that will be politically leveraged as bringing an end to America's longest war.

The astrologically significant location for the event is complex. It obviously affects Afghanistan and the U.S. It was signed in Doha, Qatar. It was signed sometime today, February 29, 2020, early enough for the news to break a little after 8 AM Washington time (a little after 4 PM in Qatar).

The agreement is tenuous. More than a year in the making, it still could collapse and isn't a final end of things (which politically would perhaps be held until October , perhaps October 19 on the 19th anniversary of our invasion, right after the Lib). It calls for the withdrawal of all American troops from Afghanistan if the Taliban meets certain criteria including their complete dissociation with Al-Qaeda and similar Islamist terrorist groups and the Taliban's successfully coming to agreements with the current Afghan government.

The only significant, close aspect in space when it occurred was a Venus-Pluto square - appropriate for any major shift in foreign relations.

Doha, Qatar
Doha is an astrologically strange place to hold the event, since the Capsolar shows Mars about 1° from IC for the year with Antares only 0°08' from IC. Furthermore, the Caplunar has Mars about a degree from Descendant. The new Arilunar has Neptune less than a degree from IC and (worldwide) Moon aspecting a Venus-Saturn-Pluto combination.

These all speak of treachery and malicious dealing. I don't trust the deal at all. I'm not sure who the culprit is (and maybe it is everybody), but the entire deal reeks of treachery.

In one clear mark of victory in diplomacy the CapQ has transiting Jupiter on IC today. Transiting Sun crossed the locale's Capsolar Descendant. Uranus squares Cansolar MC. But the CanQ puts two Neptunes on IC, having the same angles as the Arilunar.

Kabul, Afghanistan
Both the Capsolar and Cansolar are dormant for Kabul, but the Libsolar's Moon-Jupiter opposition is exactly on EP-WP. This is the first promising mark of something positive for the country and fruits of diplomacy. OTOH, Neptune closely conjoins MC, so there is still deception.

The Caplunar shows definite room for change of relationship,s but they don't look positive. The scope of change is seen in Pluto 0°07' below Dsc and Moon 0°28' above Dsc, their midpoint 0°11' from the angle. But also foreground is a 0°15' Venus-Saturn mundane square so they're getting let down by friends - this is a seriously unhappy chart that a little bit of distantly-foreground Jupiter doesn't alleviate.

Then the new Arilunar has Mars 0°30' from square MC.

The CapQ has Uranus on Dsc for the day and Mars square MC in the CanQ for the day (same angles as the Arilunar)

He didn't say anything you don't already know. He was just explaining how betting odds work to Nicolle Wallace. He was explaining current odds for a contested convention meant you had to bet $114 dollars to get a return of $100 right now and he factored in betting odds (but didn't use them exclusively!) in his predictions. And he doesn't think there will be a contested convention.
