Margo St. James

Margo (or sometimes Margot) St. James was the founder of C.O.Y.O.T.E. (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics) and a loud, passionate, even elegant voice for supporting sex workers and the decriminalization of prostitution for decades. She died this week.

She was born September 12, 1937, 4:15 AM PST, Bellingham, WA. I know this because she told me over lunch in June 1977 when I first met her, when we were both lecturers at a conference for "4S" (The Society for the Scientific Study of Sex). If you go to AstroDatabank you'll find that I'm credited with the A-rated birth data, so I'm sure I gave this data to Lois Rodden when she was first preparing for her collection of remarkable women's horoscopes, Profiles of Women.

With her Leo Sun partile conjunct Leo and Scorpio Moon and Mars, she was a grand, warm, nearly glowing presence. I hadn't seen her in a decades when I heard she died January 11, 2021. (She'd been hospitalized after a stroke.) I last her to be in San Francisco but Wikipedia says she's been living on Orcas Island in Washington since 2013. - Wikipedia says she died 1/12 but I heard the news about 24 hours ago so it must have been the 11th.
