JAE Lunar Returns 2021

Post by Jim Eshelman »

New thread for a new year. Here, to get it started, is a reprint of my 'bridging' SLR.
Jim Eshelman wrote: Sun Dec 20, 2020 9:22 am The last SLR of the year is primarily luminary-driven. I am interested to see if Sun's concentration on IC will take a privacy (isolation) theme - giving character to the particular angle - since that is what conditions seem to be forging most. The angles are almost exactly my natal angles. Because of a roughly 11° difference in celestial latitude, natal Moon is in quite a different right ascension than transiting Moon, so it is transiting Moon that is closely angular while natal Moon is no more than a backup player. (Neither Moon is close enough to Neptune this time to make Class 1.)

t Mercury on IC -4°00'
t Sun on IC -3°23'
------------------------
t Moon on EP +1°06' (r Moon on Dsc +3°27')
t Neptune on Dsc +8°36'

Other partile
t Jupiter-Saturn conj. 0°03'
t Pluto conj. r Mars 0°06'
t Mars-Pluto sq. 0°48'

In addition to whatever "backdrop activity" the non-foreground partile aspects bring, the Class 2 angularities and Class 1 aspects of the chart, in order of strength, are:

t Sun-Mercury conj. 0°37'
t Moon on EP +1°06'
t Sun on IC -3°23'
t Mercury on IC -4°00'

My demi-lunar will occur Monday, January 4, 2021 at 8:35 AM PST as we head back onto the job - but still working from home most of the time. (I should be feeling it by Sunday morning.) I expect to be home when this sets up. It looks like the world is kinder to me than I am to myself.

I completely missed that I had an SLR. (It only occurred to me when thinking that the Caplunar had been in for a few days.) It set up January 17 (yesterday) at 8:27 AM PST at home. At a glance, it doesn't look like much. (Happy to see Marion's Demi with Venus at Midheaven.) Here's the breakdown:

t Mercury on Asc +4°55'
r Pluto on WP +2°58'

Demi-SLR 1/31/2021

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Perhaps it's because I'm a Virgo, but I really don't like Neptune presenting itself; and here we go again with a Demi (under a minimal SLR in the first place) with Neptune transiting my Moon (this time closely) in the foreground. (These have not come out well for me.) It occurs Sunday, January 31, 2:33 PM PST, when I surely will be at home. I'll likely be feeling it by tomorrow afternoon. -- A side issue: This is the first time Pluto hasn't been partile conjunct my Mars in I-don't-remember-when. -- The non-foreground partile transits are interesting since they touch nearly everything of any importance or closeness in my chart.

This Leo is not fond of finding Neptune near an angle or luminary. When I had Neptune riding close to my natal moon long term, I would answer the phone before it rang, greeting the person who'd called by name. That was fun, but that was pretty much all that was.

Jim... So Many 'square' and 'opposition' aspects are lining your shelves it appears. Ride your best horse!

When basking in the light of a full Moon don't feel like the Lone Stranger when the Universe lines your pockets with memorabilia... The Cosmos are delivering huge morsels these days... With the backdrop of Neptune square the Lunar Nodes from the CapSolar to Feb. 17th and Saturn squares Uranus we can hope that challenges provide opportunities for growth!

My 'upcoming season of change' comes up on Feb. 1st when a t-square(partile) occurs with my natal Pluto and transiting Mars and Sun. Couple that with an exact partile of Transiting Neptune square natal Sun. The transiting Moon will exact partile square the ASC and will partile trine transiting Venus... To balance this all out transiting Mars will trine the EP.....

The following day I am scheduled for my first covid-19 vaccine shot.... Hope it works!

Upon further reflection the Mars Uranus conjunction of Jan. 20th continues to influence me. Neptune was elevated and partile square the ASC where I live. A fella can dream.....

Re: Demi-SLR 1/31/2021

Post by Jim Eshelman »

I've been curious - looking for an astrological explanation - of why, around 11 PM on February 5, I suddenly felt - out of the blue with no prompting - an absolute certainty that now was the time to simply move the planet Eris into routine use. This seemed to have no event leading up to it, e.g., not a single new Eris observation, no chart that triggered it - and, simultaneously, no gigantic astrological prompting at the time. (There are lesser ongoing astrological reasons for such moves, like the close and angular Mercury-Uranus opposition in my SSR. Just nothing to mark that time.)

I have non-astrological explanations satisfying to me at the moment, but would have expected an astrological trigger as well.

One possible type of trigger would be something involving Eris suddenly active in my own chart. I just found a small example of this in the January 31 Demi-SLR. Nothing big; just enough to say I found something. Transiting Sun makes a middleground mundane square to natal and transiting Eris in the Demi-SLR. (Eris has moved half a sign since I was born but has shifted dramatically in latitude during that time - causing some rather unusual mundane behavior, including rising much earlier now than it did over six decades ago, even though it has been moving forward along the zodiac. Another is that, sometimes, my natal and transiting Eris show up at the same place mundanely.)

Here are the numbers:

9°08' in the 11th house - r Eris
9°38' in the 8th house - t Sun
10°31' in the 11th house - t Eris

It's a start!

My next SLR occurs Saturday, February 13, 2021, 5:22 PM PST. I likely will be at home since Marion has an all-day professional seminar on Zoom. This is a quite robust SLR. It's a remarkable combination of positive and negative factors - of near blessings and of aggressive challenges and confrontations. - It should be most educational.

This fortnight has been a good expression of this lunar return with distinct good things and bad things both showing. On the negative side, we get hit with a hard financial blow - a bit of karma catching up to us, but it was relatively easy to contain the damage and recover most of it. The positives included our wine company annual retreat (held on Zoom this year) which was enjoyable, brought interesting and probably good business, and even got us acknowledged for successes: Of the 2,000 or so Boisset wine ambassadors in the country, we were No. 4 in 2020 in driving the most hits to our business web site from social media. (This startled us: We actually don't think we're very good at that, though it seems we're better than we thought. The next trick is to convert site visits to purchases.)

Along with all this, I also got my No. 2 vaccine - I tend to think of Jupiter as signifying competent medical care.

My Demi will occur Saturday, February 27, at 10:46 PM. I expect to be here at home. I should start feeling it by Friday evening. One of the easiest things to see is that it's weighted toward benefics and should be unusually good for Mercury things.

The Demi period has, indeed, been positive-leaning with some successes to chalk up (but more of them around me than my own, i.e., people close around me succeeding). It hasn't been as productive as I'd have liked or expected, though I did finish one Moon-sign rewrite. It will end a few hours after our upcoming Friday night "Pinot Is For Lovers" online tasting event, which I think, however, will be most shown by the incoming lunar (though it's build-up and preparation has been clearly shown in this Demi).

I'm not sure if any Mercury-Uranus type 'breakthroughs' occurred in this fortnight, though, if they did, the evidence is around here somewhere in posts I've by now forgotten.

SLR 3/13/21

Post by Jim Eshelman »

My next SLR sets up at 1:09 AM Saturday morning, March 13. I should wake up feeling it Friday morning. I'll be here at home when it occurs. It's pretty simple overall. One remarkable feature, though: It may give an opportunity to study Eris in action because it acquires a partile (0°07') foreground natal Sun-Eris mundane opposition. (That may be hard to distinguish from the quite important exact Pluto-to-Neptune and Saturn-to-Saturn transits about the same time.)

In any case, the angular Moon-Sun conjunction is the star.

r Sun on MC -7°55'
r Eris on IC -7°48'

---------------------------
t Sun on N +0°44'
r Moon on N +1°18'

r Sun-Eris op. 0°07' mundo
t Sun conj. r Moon 0°35'

Other partile
t Pluto sq. r Neptune 0°03'
-- t Eris op. r Neptune 0°57' mundo
t Mercury sq. r Venus 0°13'
-- t Mercury op. r Pluto 0°26'
t Saturn sq. r Saturn 0°14'
t Venus-Neptune conj. 0°39' mundo
t Pluto conj. r Mars 0°41' mundo
t Sun-Mars sq. 0°50' mundo
t Pluto op. r Jupiter 0°54' mundo
-- t Pluto op. r Uranus 0°56' mundo
t Saturn-Uranus sq. 0°58' mundo

This time, aspects outrank angularities in importance. The strongest factors, in order of strength, are:

r Sun-Eris op. 0°07'
t Sun conj. r Moon 0°35'
t Sun on N 0°44'

My Demi-SLR will occur Saturday morning, March 27, at 9:01 AM when I will be here at home. It is a mixture of benefic and malefic indications intertwined (Mars stronger than Jupiter), but overall quite simple.

It's been a decent past month, especially with the promotion. Working like a demon, though - work is accelerating (we have to do two complete computer replacements in the next several weeks - long story). Saturn has been transiting my SSR Descendant so we've been feeling the pinch, the work demand, and the financial drain, and the next SLR is (at first glance) primarily Saturnian. Let's see how it looks.

M<y next SLR occurs Friday, April 4, 2021, 7:27 am. I'm likely to be feeling it by the time my workday starts on Thursday. Though not foreground, the partile Mars-Neptune to my Moon looks unpleasant (somehow toxic). I'm, entering a month or so of Neptune exactly conjunct my Moon.

I think the main effect of the SLR has been the fact that I've been back in the office full time for the last two weeks. This is a sharp break from the last 13 months and, among other things, has made me aware how much I've enjoyed being "in on" the daily pattern and events of Marion and Kali for the last year. Kali has definitely been showing separation anxiety that I'm not around all day. The finer points were details of our projects in the office.

Mars-Neptune to Moon, despite how close it is in orb, had very little effect other than during the days it was actually completing the transit. (Of course, the month is only half over.)

My Demi-lunar will occur Friday, April 23, at 8:34 PM. I'll be at home at the time. Its extremely positive and interesting. The double Mercury-Saturn might bring frustrations, communications fumbles, and snafus, but the overall tone is so positive they aren't likely serious and, perhaps, it is merely emphasizing the need to be concentrated in technical details with regard to work and astrology.

SLR 6/2/21

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Since I'll be on the road nearly two weeks, I should get this loaded and analyzed now. My next SLR will occur June 2, 2021, 8:18 PM PDT. However, I don't know exactly where I'll be when that happens. We will have been in Napa, CA until at least 4:30 PM. We'll likely have dinner there and take our time so alcohol clears Marion's system before driving far. We'll probably either head to a friend's house in San Francisco (which, then, is were I'd be for the SLR) or - more likely at the moment - make the four-hour drive down 101 to just outside Paso Robles, where we'll grab a few hours of sleep in the car before breakfasting then pulling into San Luis Obispo late morning.

If we go that route, we might be in San Jose by 8:18 PM, which is probably the most perfect spot for the SLR without going far inland to, say, Lodi (or other spots significantly east of Sacramento) - totally out of our way. I'd guess we wouldn't make it much further than halfway from Napa to San Jose, especially given Bay Area rush early evening traffic, so so that's about Dublin.

None of these places is all that different (a few minutes here and there). I'll do the workup for San Jose. An interesting quirk: Transiting Moon is foreground (5° off IC), natal Moon is not (more than 10° off IC), so the Mercury and Neptune aspects to Moon are to transiting Moon, not natal Moon. There should be a clear distinction in how this manifests. This also means that there are no natal planets foreground. Therefore, we have the exact Sun and close Venus foreground to set the primary tone plus a Moon-Mercury-Neptune T-square (which is a little worrisome while on the road, but I'll trust the fundamentally positive chart).

t Mercury on Dsc -9°34'
t Venus on WP -1°17'
t Sun on Dsc -0°05'

--------------------------
t Moon on IC +4°58'
t Neptune on IC +6°28'

t Moon-Neptune conj. 0°38'
t Mercury-Neptune sq. 1°01'
t Moon-Mercury sq. 1°39'

Other Partile

t Uranus op. r Mercury 0°09'
t Mars sq. r Neptune 0°15' mundo

t Pluto op. r Jupiter 0°39' mundo
t Pluto op. r Uranus 0°41' mundo
t Saturn-Uranus sq. 0°53'
t Pluto conj. r Mars 0°57' mundo

The Class 2 angularities and Class 1 aspects in order of strength are:

0°05' t Sun on Dsc
0°38' t Moon-Neptune conj.
1°01' t Mercury-Neptune sq.
1°17' t Venus on WP
1°39' t Moon-Mercury sq.
4°58' t Moon on IC
6°28' t Neptune on IC

The SLR occurs in six minutes I'm sitting finishing dinner in San Jose, so the above is accurate. The exact coordinates are 37N15'15" 121W47'57".

This was too close for me to sweat the details (and calculate again) just for a malleable lunar return, but the geographic coordinates were several minutes from the central coordinates for San Jose that I used. It's worth mentioning then, I suppose, that the desirable angularities were slightly closer and the less desirable ones slightly wider.

Demi-SLR 5/17/21

Post by Jim Eshelman »

With that lunar in place, my Demi-SLR Thursday lays on even more Neptune and, specifically, Moon-Neptune. Not my favorite but I'm sure I'll muddle through.

t Sun on MC -4°30'
r Moon sq. MC -0°03' (on Dsc -0°19')
------------------------------
t Neptune on Dsc +0°03'

t Moon on Asc +1°34'

t Mercury on MC +5°15'

-- t Sun conj. r MC 0°01'
-- t Neptune conj. r Moon 0°22' mundo

Other Partile
t Neptune sq. r Neptune 0°08'
t Saturn-Uranus sq. 0°14'
t Saturn sq. r Mercury 0°37'
t Eris sq. r Mars 0°44'
t Uranus op., r Uranus 0°36' mundo

A possible extra factor that is so rare I've not seen one before. What I call PVP aspects have proven themselves decisively in the ingresses and surely are effective elsewhere in astrology as well - but we haven't been able to test them yet. Since t Jupiter is 0°15' before Vertex in azimuth (0°14' in PV amplitude) and transiting Neptune is 0°03' past Descendant in altitude, we have: t Jupiter-Neptune square (0°18') and t Moon-Jupiter square (1°44'). This stands a good chance, I think, of significantly altering the tone of the fiercely Neptunian Demi-SLR. (I'll have to watch out for scams but, otherwise, I'm pretty sure it's an improvement!)

It appears to me the same member as before but with different names you were forced to ban again from the forum manifested with your current SLR & DSLR.

SLR 6/30/21

Post by Jim Eshelman »

My next SLR is June 30, 2021, 3:59 PM PDT, when I expect to be at the office, so I've set it up for Century City. It's quite boring, which might be a nice change. The only two angularities are Class 3, meaning that if there were anything closer I wouldn't even look at their angularity.

The "other partile aspects" category is pretty severe, though. That Saturn and Mars both aspect natal Mercury (Saturn 0°01'!) is of concern. I'm not sure we can entirely dismiss this just because it is deep background. The 0°00' opposition of Jupiter to natal Pluto may be interesting.

Since, in most respects, this SLR is really boring (though I doubt the week will be), I think I'll use it to test something else: Over the years, people have proposed different ways of progressing the SLR. None of them have ever seemed to work by checking past events. I've been thinking it would be useful to test these looking forward.

As a starting idea, here are quotidian angles (straight Q2 - call it an LQ chart <g>) to SLR planets over the life of this return:

Asc 0 Mer - Mon, Jul 5 2021, 11:41p PDT
MC 0 Jup - Fri, Jul 9 2021, 7:22a PDT
Asc 90 Mon - Sat, Jul 10 2021, 4:50a PDT
Asc 90 Nep - Sat, Jul 10 2021, 11:59p PDT
EP 0 Mer - Thu, Jul 22 2021, 7:05p PDT
MC 90 Mer - Sat, Jul 24 2021, 6:26p PDT

I'm not optimistic about finding anything, but I'm willing to look.

On a "pure transits" note, the Mars-Saturn-Uranus triplet - and especially the Mars-Saturn square in space - is directly impacting my 17°21' Libra Mercury. Saturn and Uranus have been there for a while, but Mars is coming through today (at the moment it is about 0°01' past exact aspect).

Yesterday, I could really feel this building. Objectively, the only measurable thing ("event" in the physical sense) was that it was extremely busy, fast-paced. Not chaotic at all (I'm starting to recognize the feel of Eris days), just doing three fast-paced things at once most of the day.

But subjectively - psychologically - the effect has been more pronounced. My body and brain have been carrying more stress, juggling more things, apprehensive about things in general. If I let myself indulge in the pictures in my brain, there would be a sense that the entire world is going to crash in upon itself and an accelerated sense that there simply is neither the time nor the energy to do half of what I need to do. (It certainly has been a few days of juggling enthusiasms vs. resistances.)

And yet, outwardly, it was just another day, albeit fast paced.

On the way to work this morning, as the aspect was applying by about 0°02', I could feel the stress in my body and mind. Meanwhile, I was efficiently calculating the 12 individual things I had to do in my first half-hour at work to set the day up correctly.

I know that Mars-Saturn aspects often show breakthroughs in the sense of cracking through resistance and other barriers - stuck things breaking loose - and, with Uranus, this is surely even more true. We can see it in the world with the charges filed against the Trump Organization and its CFO yesterday. I suspect there will be a lot of intentional and unintentional barrier breakthroughs in the next few days in the world in general.

Some general thoughts about SLRs...

I periodically set myself up to question settled patterns in my thinking. One of these things is to review "how we know the rules to be" about interpreting SLRs, Some of you may recall a couple of years ago that I decided to question whether natal planets foreground actually "counted" in returns or (in contrast) only transits to natal planets counted - which, in the most impressive charts, would usually be the same thing. (I ended up concluding that, yes, we were right all along to consider them.)

On my recent vacation, I reread the whole of Fagan's red book, and just finished a re-read of the Primer. This brought a few things to mind that I've decided I want to re-investigate (not heavily, just by casual observation. I'll be watching these for a while as I look at my own lunars (plus any others that come past), and I invite anyone else to newly explore along with me.

Here are some points of view from Fagan that are contrary to what I currently hold is true about SLRs:

** In most places he says that only conjunctions and oppositions, plus mundane squares, should be counted. I think the real idea here was that only mundane conjunctions, oppositions, and squares were valid (not ecliptical aspects at all) and the first two would approximate their zodiacal form. I currently think it absurd that foreground ecliptical squares aren't valid in SLRs, but I'll take a look at it again.

** He flatly said that return charts are mundane, not zodiacal. He seemed to be saying that they are exclusively mundane (except that zodiacal signs show relative planet strength, as he put it). This is a more complete version of the first statement and raises the question: Is it possible that ecliptical aspects don't matter at all in these charts? (It seems bizarre for a chart based on an ecliptical conjunction in the first place!) I'll try to remember to entertain this possibility.

** He stated that just as Moon is of the greatest importance in every Solar Return, so is Sun of greatest importance in any Lunar Return, the chief significator. I used to think this - it was a nice, convenient rule, had a nice balance - and then I stopped thinking it true many years ago. However, I will try to remember to look at his flat statement that any natal or transiting planets in close conjunction, opposition, or (presumably mundane) squares is highlighted as if it were on an angle.

If I remember correctly, Fagan also said on the day/time for a SLR pay close attention checking to see if there are any partile inner planet transits (0,90,180) to the natal, if so, this will have an important dominating influence no matter where the partile aspect fell on the SLR wheel. I have found Fagan observation about partile inner planet transits to the natal on the day/time of a SLR to be true. For the last several months I have been going through a partile transit of Pluto 180 my Natal Mars and have noted the only times I felt any kind of sharp influence of this partile Pluto transit was when it appeared close to my SLR angles. I have found this contrast between Fagan's partile inner planet transits and my observation with outer planet partile transits interesting related to SLR's. Are partile inner planet transits in a SLR felt more strongly in SLR no matter where they fall on the SLR wheel because they involve more close personal issues verses a partile outer planet transit? Just curious how you thought about this?

I don't know of anywhere that he limited this to inner planets. Several times, though, he said this about any partile transits in the SLR. (I'm not sure where you got the idea he was only talking about inner planets. At least, I can't recall such an insistence.)

Yes, lots of details. This just wasn't something I was reviewing at the moment (because it didn't come up from The Solunars Handbook or the Primer re-reads.

I don't think they are felt more keenly.

However, on the point that you only felt the Pluto transit to your Mars when it was foreground, I think this might be relevant: I don't consider these non-foreground partile aspects as primary in any sense. I use them to fill in the gaps or add subtleties. That is, I figure out the main quality of the SLR without them (ignoring them) and then add little touches from them.

So, with Pluto transit to your Mars near angles, that would be the main theme - and anything else would "fill in the gaps." It would feel much different if some other planets gave the main themes while Pluto-Mars was just an "also here" finesse in the background.

Looking further - especially at the Fagan article here: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=178

"The only effective transits are those made on the dates of the Lunar returns." Notice this doesn't distinguish inner planets. BTW, I think the key word here is "made," i.e., what does it mean that an aspect is "made." I'm sure he doesn't mean that it is exact on that very day but, rather, that the transiting aspect exists in the SLR.

Jim, I read a different Fagan article. I will try to locate the article checking to see if I remembered correctly about his words with the inner planets.

Just found Fagan's words:
Transits and the Lunar Return:
In regard to the more rapidly moving planets, their transits only become significant if they should closely configure the birth planets on the date of a lunar return. For example, if Mars should be in exact opposition, conjunction, or to a lesser extent, square the radical sun on the date of a lunar return there will be a liability of an accident, hurt or illness. Otherwise such a transit may pass without anything untoward occurring. Cyril Fagan

Got it. But he's not saying "it is only the fast planets whose transits become significant if exact in the lunar return."

He's saying (and I think this would be clear in the larger context of wherever this is from): "Slow transit planet transits are normally significant. However, fast planet transits aren't normally significant. The exception is that they, too, become significant if they are exact in a lunar return."

For this SLR, I'm testing whether I can get any significant results from a way to progress it - starting with the Q2. Mercury widely rose in my current SLR: Yesterday, Q2 Asc conjoined that Mercury, being exact late last night but within partile orb for a day coming and a day going.

Yesterday in general and late last night in particular were indeed intensely Mercury. I don't think I should take that all too seriously, though. As with Mercury transits and similar quick Mercurial hits, I can't realistically distinguish such days from the rest of my life. Every day of my life (with almost no excepts) could fit that description. So, I'm dutifully reporting what happened but not going to take it too seriously.

What I started yesterday afternoon (and completed many segments of last night) is a spreadsheet that will let me meaningfully repeat / recreate Bradley's "30 possible zodiacs" test. I have loaded the probability tables of Sun around the zodiac into a spreadsheet that crunches the frequency Sun appears in each degree of the zodiac into 360 different 30° moving totals calculations and - long story short - shows whether it is likely that 30° sectioning of the zodiac actually exists and, if so, where its boundaries are.

Continuing the speculative testing of a Lunar Quotidian, I have a possible hit: A minor event in the scope of things but one that is symbolically fitting.

Yesterday was my annual performance review. It went well (positive, no big surprises, one small surprise in terms of a training resource I'll have access to). At 1:37 PM yesterday, I was told about the small raise I'm getting (it's about 3% - in the category of genuinely appreciated but hardly exciting :)). Knowing that this Jupiter crossing was coming, it caught my attention.

At 1:37 PM yesterday in Century City, I had:

6°14' Aquarius LQ MC
6°37' Aquarius t Jupiter
7°00' Aquarius SLR Jupiter

It's symbolically a solid hit. It was a nice expression of that particular hour. OTOH it's the sort of event that I wouldn't have stressed over not showing up - a detail I won't significantly remember in the future as an important event of any kind.

For contrast, the normal, generally accepted quotidians didn't show the day well at all. This is what I'm used to and why I only follow them as a curio (they're easy to check). For the same event:

SNQ: p Asc s. r Saturn (0°51')
SQ MC conj. s Pluto 0°24' (r Mars 1°03'), EP op. r Neptune 0°15'
But PSSR Asc has conjoined transiting Sun for a couple of weeks, and also squared natal Sun (but didn't reach SSR Jupiter).

Another possible "tone of the day" hit came yesterday, though it's hard to filter it out from other factors.

Yesterday should have been dominated (if the LQ theory is correct) by Neptune's transiting conjunction with natal Moon. First, it's hard to filter this out because I'm feeling the frailty, vulnerability, invadability, and "wanting to dissolve toward zero" of this day in and day out as the aspect is partile. Furthermore, today (the day after the above hits) transiting Saturn crosses my SSR Descendant (for where the SSR set up in the northwest tip of Arizona) - I was in the last 24 hours before it peaked and became exact (concurrent with transiting Saturn on SNQ Descendant today).

Nonetheless, I should report for the record that yesterday was an especially heightened example of what I described above as Neptune on Moon. By mid to late day, I felt nonspecifically sick - couldn't say exactly what was wrong, just that I'd have gone and buried myself in a nap if I'd had the chance and was feeling (the usual Neptune words of late) vulnerable, delicate, maybe frail.

It's more or less gone today - or, at least, compared to yesterday it's gone. So maybe it was a hit yesterday.

Two Mercuries to go, but not for a couple of weeks (and it's hard to detect Mercury days since every day is a Mercury day for me). My Demi-SLR is around the corner with Moon-Neptune highlighted.

My next SLR sets up next Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 11:59 AM when I will surely be at work, so I'll calculate it for Century City. - The next few days are likely to fly by fast, so I thought I'd get a head start on it (plus, I used it as an example in another post today).

This one has a definitely more most beat than some recent returns.

MC 0 Jup - Fri, Jul 9 2021, 7:22a PDT

I'm not optimistic about finding anything, but I'm willing to look.
These were interesting enough to keep watching another month - and the next lunar return has a lot of them!

The last two on the list were Mercury contacts. These are quite difficult to distinguish from the way almost every day of my life goes. With LQ EP conjunct Mercury, though, I did start the unusual task of a major cleanup and restructuring the sync of my phone Contacts. Unusual event, yes... but, then, it's also just "one more Mercury thing to do" out of a long stream of them, so I won't judge it.

So far, if I were to draw any conclusions (which are much too soon: so let's call them "evolving conclusions"), they would be that these contacts all coincided with appropriate symbolism - in a couple of cases, much more specific than the other quotidians usually provide - though in no case would my life or understanding have been less if I'd not known about them. They weren't staggering events.

Nothing in particular. We''ll see if the Uranus element draws it out tomorrow.

Demi-SLR 8/19/2021

Post by Jim Eshelman »

My next Demi-SLR is Tuesday, August 10, at 11:52 PM PDT when I will surely be home. On balance, it is quite positive, though full of surprises (and also has an unusual number of natal planets foreground). Here is the breakdown.

r Venus on Dsc +0°02'
t Sun on N +0°44'
t Uranus on Asc +2°47'

r Eris on Asc +3°04'
r Saturn on Dsc +4°19'
t Eris on Asc +5°42'
r Jupiter on IC +6°19'
r Uranus on IC +6°43'

r Mercury on Dsc +7°17'

r Jupiter-Uranus conj. 0°17'
t Uranus conj. r Eris 0°17' mundo
r Mercury-Uranus sq. 0°34 mundo
t Eris sq. r Jupiter 0°37' mundo
r Mercury-Jupiter sq. 0°58' mundo

t Eris sq. r Uranus 1°01' mundo
r Saturn-Eris op. 1°15' mundo
t Eris sq. r Saturn 1°23' mundo
t Uranus op. r Saturn 1°32' mundo
t Eris op. r Mercury 1°35' mundo
r Jupiter-Saturn sq. 2°00' mundo
t Uranus op. r Mercury 2°22'
r Mercury-Saturn conj. 2°24'
r Saturn-Uranus sq. 2°24' mundo

t Eris conj. r Eris 2°38' mundo
t Uranus op. r Venus 2°45' mundo
t Uranus-Eris conj. 2°55' mundo

Other Partile
t Neptune conj. r Moon 0°13'

t Pluto sq. r Neptune 0°19' mundo
t Saturn sq. r Saturn 0°28'
t Mercury-Jupiter op. 0°28'
t Venus-Neptune op. 0°52' mundo

Sorting the main factors and dropping out Eris, we get:

r Venus on Dsc +0°02'

This continues to be interesting enough - I'd call it teasing - to hold attention,

With this weeks LQ crossings, there have been no objective events I can cite. It's not that the last two days were contrary so "something solar" or "something lunar," but that nothing especially stood out.

However, with the Saturn crossing exact this morning (a day applying, a day departing is the theoretical orb), I woke in a state of malaise. Again, n clear event. (In fact, an apprehension about money, when checked, turned out to be better conditions that I thought.) However, the symptom is a terribly heavy dread - more free-floating dread. It feels like a biochemical shift more than a simple anxiety reaction to any facts (or even any thoughts). I suspect it will move on in a day or so, but it's bizarrely present this morning.

I'm not inclined to attribute this to the LQ. (The evidence has been teasing but not strong.) Today is also the day I have transiting Saturn exactly square natal Saturn. Usually, those outer-to-itself transits don't have an exact "day of" impact that isn't evident on days leading in or out of them - they're more like pivot points of psychological or life-structure shifts. However, I also currently have Neptune transiting within a few minutes of natal Moon. That's what this feels like: If I'd no astrological software to check, I'd have pegged this as the dreading vulnerability that verges on a sense of helplessness of Neptune's transit to Moon. (That's the "biochemical" feel of it.)

Perhaps it also broke loose today because Jupiter just pulled back. I've had Jupiter crossing my local natal Descendant and then, just as it was leaving orb, my SNQ pulled it to an angle. Today is the first day that the Jupiter left.

This moment, as I type this, Saturn is 0°01' from square my Saturn, Neptune is 0°21' from conjunct my Moon. Also of interest, transiting Moon at 2° Gemini has been spending the last two or three hours crossing my Midheaven. Perhaps feeding the Virgo potential for anxiety, Sun is 0°05' from square my Mercury. These are the four planets (Saturn, Neptune, Mercury, Moon) most likely to be stirred for this kind of psycho-physical state.

Tomorrow, SQ Asc squares solar Venus - we'll see if the mood shifts again. (Usually, Q crossings are too weak to imprint a day, though, which is why it has been intriguing when the LQ crossings have seemed to hit a tone.)

It's a strange mix of all sorts of little astrological things dancing around a couple of big gorillas that probably are the real movers of the day. Nonetheless, as long as I'm monitoring these LQ crossings, I needed to report on this.

Re: JAE Lunar Returns 2021

Dread- ugggh I recall that feeling, it's one of the worst. In my experience, it never turned out as bad as my run away mind thought it would. I've dreaded going to parties, seeing/ interacting with people and cleaning up really nasty things. What I've tried to do in my life so that I dont feel dread is to mind my personal integrity and to make good choices. when I have that in my control and I know I've done my best, it doesnt turn out bad and in many cases the thing I was dreading (ie a conversation with my dad) turned out better then I could have imagined.

I hope you feel much better today.

Thanks, Veronica. Those feelings eased as the day got going (probably because I got busy). More significantly, they aren't present this morning. (Transiting is 0°02' past natal Saturn. It will be back one more time, part of the mid-December pile-up.)

Of course, to continue with some of yesterday's speculation, SNQ MC is within orb of square transiting Jupiter today.

I am happy to say that nothing occurred consistent with yesterday's Saturn crossing. In fact, quite the opposite: It was an unusually upbeat day that felt as if something heavy had lifted (so I suspect the other day's deep drag was the exact Saturn-Saturn transit concurrent with Neptune-Moon etc.).

Despite a few seemingly clear hits (but no major events), I'm not sure how much longer I'll watch this. I may or may not do it another month: There are still three crossings to check this month.
