Hello everyone,
My nephew was born on July 15, 2021 at 9:01 AM in Falls Church, Virginia.
I cast his natal chart in SolarFire and am in the process of writing an analysis for my sister-in-law. I'm still new to this, so I'd love to hear any feedback you have, if I should change anything, or if you recommend adding anything I missed. I know chart synastry is often done for romantic partners, but I'm curious if there are resources that discuss how family relationships (uncle-nephew, for example) might play out based on chart synastry.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Here is what I have for his natal chart so far:
Sun in Gemini (ruled by Mercury), non-foreground, trine to Neptune in Aquarius and opposite to Pluto in Capricorn. Mars in the natal chart represents energetic vitality, and Mars in Cancer is a powerful, devoted, romantic, passionate configuration.
Moon in Virgo (ruled by Mercury), on Westpoint in Right Ascension, close hard aspect to Uranus in Aries, trine Pluto in Capricorn (wider, but closer in mundo).
Mercurial signs are usually highly analytical and methodical; this can lead to a high sense of self-control - but there is an undercurrent of revolution here, with Pluto aspecting both luminaries and fiery Uranus in Aries aspecting the Moon. With Moon on Westpoint, I suspect this intensity will manifest in how he communicates with others - highly argumentative, perhaps, and passionate about his views. There could be a nervousness or overzealousness to his communication style.
Jupiter is most angular on Descendant. People with Jupiter angular are usually benevolent, friendly, sociable, fortunate, and care about cultural traditions and legacy. Mars and Venus are conjunct in Cancer on Ascendant, a powerful combination that will be evident.
Mars and Venus conjunct bring a lot of passion and physicality to this chart; engagement in exercise or sports early on will help provide an outlet for this energy. All three angular planets are aspected by Mercury, adding to the theme of passionate and abundant communication - writing, speaking, debate, musical and technical skills will all be areas of natural interest and talent. Mars and Venus also aspect Uranus, which could lead to risk-taking behavior early on and unexpected surprises. Finally, Saturn squares Uranus - a theme of constraint vs. freedom may be a struggle throughout his life.

I'll look at the rest if I have time - a quick glance looked like you were on the right track at least.Stef wrote: Mon Jul 19, 2021 5:33 pm I know chart synastry is often done for romantic partners, but I'm curious if there are resources that discuss how family relationships (uncle-nephew, for example) might play out based on chart synastry.
But to answer the above question - I don't know of any work (certainly any credible work) of specifically addressing these other relationships. Generally, the meaning is the same as for romantic relationships except where the nature of the relationship dissuades specific manifestation; so, you need to look at the existing interpretations, understand the principles, and phrase it appropriately for the relationship you're examining.
A useful tip is to think of it, at first, as if it were about two adults who have elected not to have a sexual relationship. What happens next?
Some examples observed: A strong Venus-Mars interchange in the business world (for a relationship that doesn't end up being sexual anyway) I've seen manifest as passion getting in the way of reasoning communication. There may also be a joking, fond sense of fun that is a (usually restrained) spirit of flirting or teasing. The Mars person can grate on the Venus person a bit. The Venus person makes the Mars person feel good with respect to psychological aspects of their "masculinity."
Or something like that.
Moon-Mars in committedly heterosexual friends of the same sex tends to be very difficult - like all of the bad stuff of a run-away passion relationship and none of the advantages unless you manufacture them, like working hard and committedly together on some arduous task or intentional 'combat' (sports, challenging each other, etc.) with a strong requirement of clean, clear, careful communication. Empathy (and the vulnerability that allow it) are hard. Can conspire to mutual self-harm.
Many of the aspects don't need translation. Those that do can be judged by shifting context.

Re: My nephew
Without having yet carefully read what you wrote... when I look at the chart, here is what jumps out at me.
Double Spoke and double Mercury luminaries.
Jupiter exceptionally close to the angle, Venus and Mars more widely angular and together - so any part of Gemini that is "un-Jupiter" doesn't apply. Jupiter traits are the real leading force of the chart. Venus conjunct Mars in foreground means powerful passions drive him. Venus and Jupiter the most angular planets, with Mars right behind, is a generally extraverted, social glad-hander, navigates life forging relationships and make social connections, places up value-through-social-connection, team player (sports?), etc.
But quite bright - besides the luminary signs, Moon is 08' from octile Uranus. Sun trine Neptune 10' that I saw you sighted gives a different version of this. Really has the ability to see outside routine, boring ways of looking at things so, at least in that sense, is creative. (In fact, with Mercury-Mars 22', "creative" is probably a specific word.) - I just saw that there is also Sun opposite Pluto, so all three outer planets are connected to the luminaries: I think this shouldn't be overplayed (especially given the strong Jupiter) and just generally thought of as "can see outside the way most people look at things most of the time." (You can fill in with the specific details of each aspect, of course.)
Those are the loudest things I see unless you want to dive into the (still considered experimental) Sun-Eris square (Sun-Pluto-Eris T-square).
Not sure if that helps and you may have covered all of that.

Re: My nephew
Your husband will have a naturally affectionate relationship with this boy - husband's Venus on boy's Jupiter and Descendant. There needs to be a healthy competitive element, though, or other outlet for Mars, since their Marses are not only in opposite signs but opposite by degree. (Playing sports together, maybe usually on the same side?) I'm a little concerned about husband's Mars-Pluto 17' square so close to boy's angles and easily in orb of boy's Mars, but would trust in the Venus-Jupiter-angle (and a bit of care) to pave the way.
Husband's Saturn opposite boy's Sun: I don't know the family structures, but your husband could be a (the?) primary father figure to the boy if that's available in the structure.

Re: My nephew
Thank you very much, Jim! This is a lot for me to look over and it's late, but I wanted to drop a thank you. This is very interesting, especially the part about my husband's Saturn aspecting his Sun. We hope to build a close relationship with our nephew, so this is encouraging to see.
