Jan 12: Swami Vivekananda & Melanie C

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Swami Vivekananda, January 12, 1863, 6:33 AM LMT, Calcutta, India (AA).
Melanie C (Sporty Spice), January 12, 1974, 9:32 PM GMT, Widnes, England (A).

Vivekananda's birth record says 6:33 AM. Another source says 6:45 AM, the source being vaguely stated as "recorded." A biography then says "at 6:49, a few minutes after sunrise" (sunrise is 6:43). These give a range of 16 minutes. The time given here is for the one that claims to be directly from a birth record.

BONUS CHARTS:
Goering, Hermann. January 12, 1893, 4:00 AM CET, Rosenheim, Germany (AA).

In honor of Swami Vivekananda's birthday, here is a breakdown of his chart from TMSA, including the Cosmic State report. Though I've dropped experimental planets from the list, it's interesting that his Moon is in close mundane opposition to a Sedna-Eris conjunction.

We quickly see that he was a Sagittarius-Virgo - most fitting - with Mars in Aries. The rising Sun was his most angular planet (followed by Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury). Saturn and Pluto might be stationary (each moves 0'00" for the day). His closest aspects are the partile Moon-Saturn conjunction and Venus-Mars square, Mars-Jupiter quite important as well.

Turning to the Cosmic State report, I first notice the contrast of the harshly aspected Moon to the benevolently placed and aspected Sun. Yet, his Virgo Moon is a real stand-out, as is evident to anyone who has read him extensively, including his erudition, beautiful and precise composition, and smooth navigation of languages. While Jupiter is his most evident planet, Mars is his best planet, being foreground in Aries with close aspects to two benefics.
