Cyril Fagan
I have been reading Cyril Fagans Primer of sidereal astrology. On page 51 he references a quote from the first edition about the chart of JFK.After doing an online search I can only find one edition of the Primer.Chart of JFK was of recent interest to me.Just asking if anyone knows about this chart in any of Mr. Fagans books.Solunars /Astrological Origins both cost a little above usual online-Harold

I don't have a first edition of the Primer. At the moment, I only have in the house the 1971 AFA edition and there is no mention of JFK on page 51. Can you cite the chapter / section / headings so I can find the passage you're referencing?

Re: Cyril Fagan
I think I found it: It's on p. 45 of the AFA edition ibn Chapter 11, "Progression of Solar Planets." Example 2 is the calculation of the progressed solar return planets for President Kennedy for events in 1962, timing one event that corresponded to Mississippi campus riots October 1, 1962. After this calculation example, Fagan and Firebrace wrote about the calculated Moon-Mars conjunction:
Here is a copy of JFK's Sidereal Solar Return cast for Oxford, MS. In the outer circle are his SQ (secondary progressions of SSR) planets for noon October 1, 1962 when James Meredith, the first black student, registered at the University of Mississippi under escort of Federal Marshals under order by Kennedy.
I assume this is the passage you read, yes? Did you have a question about it? - To answer the one explicit question, I don't think I've ever seen a first edition of the Primer.. Gary Duncan surely had one but I don't remember if it was around his house during the short time I lived with him.The first edition of this book, written in April 1961, stated, with reference to this aspect;
"The ordinary man under this configuration may become a target for criticism to which he will react strongly even to the point of losing his temper. In the map of a national leader the aspect may well work in the mundane sphere and cause a vigorous reaction. Here could be a dangerous period."
It is interesting to note that the president's S.S.R. for 1962, when equated to Oxford [Mississippi], has Mars and therefore this conjunction with the Moon on the Ascendant. This is evidence that personal maps may be equated effectively to centres of interest.

I found something that might thrill you. First, in case you didn't know, we have many issues of Brigadier Firebrace's journal Spica available for download here:
https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4033
On p. 31 of Vol. I, No. 2 is an article by Firebrace titled "Mundane Astrology." Remember, Firebrace co-authored the Primer with Fagan, and - it turns out - is responsible for the passage that interested you. Writing on December 10, 1961, Firebrace (see p. 36) said:

These words were evidently copied and extended when the first edition of the Primer was composed.President Kennedy. Moon conjunct Mars. Oct 11.
On this date the ordinary man might become the target for criticism to which he would react strongly. In the map of a national leader it may well work in the mundane sphere and cause a vigorous reaction. This could be a dangerous period.
We are approaching the time when mundane prediction can be of real value. As a former intelligence Officer I would now definitely include it as one source of intelligence. I cannot say that I am impressed with the mundane predictions that I read at the present time. I am convinced that in sidereal methods we have a better tool provided they are used intelligently and the necessary work of consulting the many maps is done. We have much to learn in this respect but that is vital to raise us from the status of fortune tellers to that of scientific prognosticators.

Re: Cyril Fagan
Jim-Thanks-You have answered my question and more. I am not sure how to cast a SQ (Solar Quotidien). I use Janus and Winstar programs. Is there a certain daily rate of transiting Sun calculated from SSR MAY 1962 to use for SQ? I think I would need a sidereal ephemeris for this date.Mine starts from 2001 onward. Mr. Fagans book has always been a great source. Solunars has helped me with sidereal Astrology overall . Regards Harold

Re: Cyril Fagan
The SQ (Solar Quotidian) is a straight secondary progression of the Sidereal Solar Return. The old way of doing it by hand is discussed in Chapter X of the Primer, but modern software takes care of the calculation much better.kokab wrote: Fri Apr 15, 2022 9:49 pm I am not sure how to cast a SQ (Solar Quotidien). The free TMSA software Mike Nelson is developing on this site will have the various quotidians added in the upcoming version 0.5.x over the next several months. Meanwhile, in Janus calculate the Solar Return first, then run a progressed chart of the Solar Return itself, picking Secondary for progressed rate and Mean Quot Q2 (i.e., standard quotidian rate) for progressed MC method.
Thanks. Feel free to hang out, ask more questions, and participate in the discussions. (And I suggest you download and install the current 4.7 version of TMSA - it's free, there's a separate forum for it near the top of the page).I think I would need a sidereal ephemeris for this date. Re: Cyril Fagan
Not for the whole century, we had to bit and piece it it. I can recommend the American Sidereal Ephemeris from 1975 on, the Lockhart ephemsrides before that.
But modern astrological software, including the FREE TMSA software from this sore, does a better job.

Re: Cyril Fagan
Sorry, on rereading I wasn't clear. It doesn't (yet) have an ephemeris feature. I meant to say that it calculates Sidereal charts for the periods you requested (no need for an ephemeris).
And ephemeris creation is on the wish list, perhaps to be delivered fairly soon. Here's the thread, feel free to add your comments.
