Jupiter in Pisces

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Jupiter entered Pisces today. I have done no analysis on this placement at all, so one thing we can do is watch what shifts in the news now occur. I'll also give the data everyone can use to look at this passage in history. (I don't know how much time I'll have for this in the immediate future.) Soon, Neptune will enter Pisces, too (and I have a separate thread on that where I simply have not been able to make any sense of it: Neptune in Pisces confuses me!).

Here are periods Jupiter has been in Pisces during U.S. history. (The new passage will be April 17, 2022 to April 25, 2023 without retrogradation back to Aquarius.)

I'll try to get at a least a start on this by examining periods in recent memory. I won't be doing this conscientiously - mostly just looking for things that fit the obvious symbolism.

May 6: The 2010 Flash Crash, a trillion-dollar stock market crash occurring in 36 minutes due to a series of automated computer trading programs that got stuck in a loop.

Various stories of important paintings - a mixture of stories about their display, theft, etc. (A lot of other stories about images in different forms.)

July 16 - Instagram begins with its first posts. (It officially launched in October before Jupiter left Pisces.)

July 25 - WIkiLeaks leaked 90,000 reports about the U.S.-led Afghanistan war. (Is this an espionage theme? It feels connected, but I'm not sure about any of this.)

Aug 10 - The WHO declared the H1N1 Influenza pandemic over.

Sep 22 - The hacktivist collective Anonymous began Operation Payback, a project of coordinated cyberattacks on multiple corporations and other parties, over banning various hacktivist-favored web sites. (I don't know if the cyberattacks are thematic of Jupiter in Pisces, but the name "Anonymous" is right on the mark!) - Anonymous launched another set of attacks (this time against Arab governments) January 5, 2011 as Arab Spring took off.

Dec 17 - Local events ignited the wave of Arab Spring across Arab world - which lasted well beyond Jupiter in Pisces. During this period, the biggest events included the Egyptian Revolution (Pres. Mubarak was forced out, handing control to the military), the First Libyan Civil War, the Syrian Civil War.

Mar 11 - Japanese 9.0 quake caused massive death and destruction, including the rupture of a critical power plant and consequent radioactive pollution.

Apr 24 - WikiLeaks and other organizations leaked confidential Guantanamo Bay files.

Apr 25-28 - A tornado "super outbreak" across the U.S. south, midwest, and east: Hundreds of tornadoes killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands.

May 1 - Osama bin Ladin killed by U.S. forces.

Jun 25 - Microsoft releases Windows 98.

Jul 17 - 120 countries agreed to establish an International Criminal Court to prosecute genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes against peace.

Jul 21 - Sep 5 - Sydney water crisis: Contamination of the city water supply by microscopic pathogens is suspected. (Final conclusions doubted the problem ever existed, but people were boiling water for weeks and there was a lot of murk and eventual scandal around it.)

Aug 7 - U.S. embassy bombings in parts of Africa (linked to bin Laden).

[Google was founded 9/4, the first day Jupiter was NOT in Pisces - it was back in Aquarius. This is a strong contrast.]

Feb 11 - In other astrology news, Pluto, which had been closer to the Sun than Neptune since 1979, passed back outside Neptune's orbit. (The 20 years 1979-99 are worth an important study on their own for this phenomenon. I remember at the time noting that "Millennial Fever," which had been building so strongly, suddenly broke and nearly evaporated in '99 before the century transition occurred.)

Feb 12 - The Senate acquitted Pres. Clinton on impeachment charges.

Mar 12 - Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic joined NATO.

Mar 24 - NATO launched air strikes against Yugoslavia (the first time NATO attacked a sovereign state). The Kosovo War is underway (with many stories).

Mar 29 - DJIA closed above 10,000 for the first time.

Apr 20 - The Columbine massacre.

May 3 - The Oklahoma tornado outbreak striking part of Oklahoma City produced the highest winds ever recorded on Earth.

May 19 - The second (i.e., first) Star Wars trilogy opens with the appropriately named Phantom Menace.

Some of the earlier periods have fewer events on record and may make it easy to see specific themes.

Apr 26 - John Adams and Thomas Jefferson are appointed ambassadors to the UK and France, respectively.

May 20 - The Northwest Ordinance defined the rules for subdividing Northwest Territory (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin) - and was later used for the rest of the continent as well.

In general, much of the "setting up" of what will become the United States occurred, including many steps in establishing banks and currency, diplomatic exchanges, managing territories, and much more. Hot air balloons are the new big thing, with many firsts and records involving them.

Oct 17 - Virginia outlaws the importation of new slaves, limiting slavery to existing slaves and their descendants.
Feb 27 1797 - Mar 6 1798
Mar 4 - Adams administration begins (interesting Aquarius-to-Pisces shift from Washington to Adams).

May 10 - The first U.S. navy ship was commissioned.

In Europe, Napoleon is on the move, signing a treaty with the Holy Roman Empire (4/16), then conquering Venice. The "War of the First Coalition" against him gears up.

Oct 18 - The XYZ Affair was a diplomatic, espionage, and corruption crisis that marked the Adams administration.

Oct 21 - The USS Constitution (still commissioned in the 21st C) was launched to battle Barbary pirates.

Eli Whitney invented manufacturing through interchangeable parts, securing a federal contract to manufacture muskets in January 1798.

Feb 10 - The Pope is kidnapped and the Papacy "removed from power" by French military.

Looking at these events and discussing elsewhere, I noted that these seem to be periods of passion, which often expresses as outrage.
