USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning SEPTEMBER 6, 2022

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

USA Mundane Forecast §§§ The Biden Report §§§ Other Locations §§§ Ingress Summaries §§§ Transits to Capsolar Planets §§§ Outer Planet Sign Transits

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 15, 2022 to Jan 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Jan 15-30 forecast.)
  • An accounting cycle for the Biden administration. Republican gains seem certain in the midterm elections.
  • Sun conjunct Pluto (1°21'): Unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law (greater lawlessness). People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable. More people think of themselves as "a law unto oneself" or exception to the rules. Many possibilities, from natural disasters to political confrontation.
  • Since May 22, Sun-Pluto has progressed to within 1°00'. This progression lasts until January. We are in the part of 2022 when the above Sun-Pluto phenomena come into their own.
  • Moon-Mars-Neptune: Crime is up. Neighborhoods feel more dangerous. Ferocious civil unrest. What was once called "civilization" rips open with unaddressed grievance while struggling to settle into new patterns in which people feel safer and more secure.
  • Sun-Pluto with Moon-Mars-Neptune: Increased physical threat to the president or the Federal government as a whole (perhaps through heightened domestic terrorism).
  • Moon opposite Mars (affecting the world as a whole): A state of alarm. Typical expressions: violence, blood, fire, earthquakes, accidents, other destruction; often significant loss of life. Other expressions: war, bombings and explosions, other attacks, deaths of leaders. Moon square Neptune (local to Washington): Waves of emotional reaction, fervor, herd-mind arousal, or panic accompanied by confusion, disorientation, uncertainty, and an undermined sense of security. Mars-Neptune: Panic or feeling the ground fall from under one’s feet - surging adrenaline with heightened aroused emotion - increasing the risk of treachery, sabotage, other betrayal, poisoned relationships, and scandal.
  • Sun/Mercury = IC: Broadly intensifies and highlights Mercury themes, including transportation, commerce, and science. Mercury square Uranus: Scientific and technological advances continue (no turning from technology). Freedom and flexibility in communication and travel are big break-out themes, including significant expansion and redesign in social media's impact. Science continues to have direct, relevant influence on people's changing lives.
  • Mercury-Uranus impacts social trends: With growing urgency of antisocial independence and autonomous self-sufficiency, with people feeling exempt from precedents and historic social standards, "independent thinking" becomes a rallying cry (though probably more of a fantasy than a reality: herd-mind passions surge the cry for "independent" opinion). Passion-fed rejection of expert opinion, reliance on crowd opinion, other challenges to convention or authority. “Don’t tell me how to think” takes on new, widespread life.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)
Beginning September 18, the Capsolar's progressed Mercury-Pluto opposition moves within a 1° orb. Worldwide, this becomes a new, active theme for the remainder of the Capsolar year (until mid-January). Mercury-Pluto signifies major collisions, whether of information, communication, or vehicles. (Collisions of ideas are most common.) Leadership hangs in the balance. Overall, consequences of current events stun the intellect impactful, reframing how people think about things (possibly changing minds). Mercury themes undergo radical change for the next four months.

Middle-term trends in September shift a lot. For months, Pluto and Neptune transits have co-existed. This month, Neptune's square to Capsolar Moon expires, showing us breaking away from the trends summarized in the first paragraph below.

September 6-8: These few days conclude six months of a NEPTUNE-PLUTO ZONE, during which we have seen collective voices raised in response to pervasive anxiety or "never knowing when the other shoe will drop," heightened emotional reaction, fervor, and herd-mind arousal accompanied by uncertainty and an undermined sense of security. (The overturning of Roe was the centerpiece, but hardly it's only expression.)

September 9-21: Jupiter crossing Cansolar angles signals a time when things improve. It's unclear what forms this will take except that (being transits to Cansolar) this may run independent of the Pluto and Neptune transits to the Capsolar. Right now, the best form Jupiter prosperity could take would be economic, with results such as a rising stock market and lower home costs (even though the Fed is expected to step up interest rates again), a calming of inflation, continued strength in the jobs market, and a subjective sense that more people have more money in their pocked.

September 22-END: Neptune leaves the picture, so uncertainty and anxiety ease. One day in (9/23) a second Jupiter transit appears: It squares progressed Capsolar Moon outright replacing Neptune's long transit to Capsolar Moon. This Pluto and double Jupiter continue for the rest of the Caplunar month.

September 24-29 and October 2-3: Within this time, Mars squares Cansolar and CanQ Moon for two short periods. With Pluto and Jupiter transiting the Capsolar while Jupiter and Mars transit the Cansolar, we expect exuberance, fervor, and strength. These aspects can mean hard economic blows, but probably mean the opposite: A feeling of greater economic strength and confidence, greater industry and productivity, increased spending that reflects economic expansion - either through greater consumer confidence or increased federal spending. In military or athletic matters during this time, the U.S. wins.

Mars remains in Taurus all month. There are no major planet sign changes. Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Caplunar (Sep 6)
Effective September 6 to October 3, especially the first week, September 6-12. Like last week's Liblunar, this chart is all about the Moon-Pluto aspect closely angular. Moon is half a degree from Eastpoint (in RA) and just over 1° from exact conjunction with Pluto.

Moon-Pluto marks events stun our sensibilities and halt the mind with their intensity with unprecedented conditions and irrevocable shifts. This aspect (not angular, but existing with a small orb) has marked almost every weekly ingress for the last three years, so "unprecedented conditions and irrevocable shifts" have been the tone of our lives for a while: Staggeringly intense circumstances have held our attention until most people really want them to be done and over. The difference (since the aspect is exactly angular this week) is that we won't be able to take our eyes off of them right now: They will be in our face.

Mercury and Jupiter are on the meridian through the longitude shared by Minneapolis and Des Moines: The month's best news comes from along that line. Mars-Neptune intersect in southeast Colorado: Expect terrifying events and harm within 150 miles or so of the spot. The longitude of Los Angeles gets an exact Mars line, matching the violent Capsolar and suggesting this is one of the worst times of the year for the area. The Southwest in general will be swamped with Sun and excessive heat.

Arilunar (Sep 12)
Effective Sep 12-20. Uranus is on Eastpoint with Mars more widely foreground. Events in Washington are sensational, unexpected, and centered on conflict (but what else do we expect in an election season?). Though some relationships become frayed, there is no sense that this is an outside attack.

Surprisingly bold moves come from one side or the other, with the party in power being in the best place to deliver these. Uranus is closely squared by Saturn, enhancing the idea that this is a strained partisan conflict between liberal and conservative wings. Rising Mars is squared by Venus which, when it isn't about sex (abortion protection will get a larger share of headlines this week) is simply saying that passions are inflamed, desire screams above the sound of reason, tempers are shorter, and alliances are stressed. (Neither Saturn nor Venus is foreground.)

Mars slices through New England, Uranus and Pluto intersect near Minneapolis (where we saw Mercury-Jupiter for the month: is a wondrous discovery emerging near there?), Jupiter graces southern California, Nevada, and the Columbia Valley giving welcome relief, while the Washington and Oregon coasts have some anxiety - perhaps a small earthquake or a threat from the sea?

Canlunar (Sep 20)
Effective Sep 20-Oct 10. With the subsequent Liblunar and Caplunar silent for Washington, this Canlunar is a three-week chart. It's loudest message may be that we are all eagerly awaiting answers about something and (dang it!) the answers keep just out of reach.

Neptune is 0°16' from Descendant, Sun about 3° from Ascendant, giving us a moderate Sun-Neptune opposition. This isn't a strong chart so it doesn't warrant much anxiety when I say Sun-Neptune usually stirs chaotic, disorienting events with a spinning, spiral-confusion pattern. We may have anxiety about the president, whose personal chart is Mercury-Neptune dominated: This familiar pattern usually means that something has happened and the White House has not yet been able to get enough information to act decisively or tell us what's really going on. We have to wait a while. (There's a good chance that a former president - who remains a solar figure in the collective mind - will be in the news with swarming confusion and the public not quite getting the real story.)

I think the main outcome will be heightened emotions amidst uncertainty and unclarity. Sun-Neptune is joined by Venus square Mars again (this time 2° in mundo). People aren't overly worried (seem mostly at peace) with the Sun/Venus midpoint 0°11' from an angle. It's a strange few weeks.

Los Angeles has Saturn on Descendant (squared by Uranus), marking a hard week. (This spreads through most of California.) Mars squares Ascendant from the Florida panhandle to Milwaukee.

Liblunar (Sep 27)
The Liblunar is silent (dormant) in Washington, so the Canlunar continues in force. Areas deserving special attention are the longitude of Miami (all the way to eastern Pennsylvania), with Saturn on IC, and the Texas panhandle where Moon-Pluto exactly intersect (perhaps signaling unusual border issues, or a local disturbance). The usual interpretations apply.

The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Sep 13)
Effective Sep 12-Oct 10. The chart is strong and positive on balance, though definite struggle occurs along the way. The most angular planets are natal Sun-Venus on Eastpoint and transiting Uranus setting - all positive. Natal Mars is just above Ascendant, giving energy and aggression - or (with angular Sun) simply strength and will.

Unfortunately, his rising Mars is squared by Saturn (a mundane square 2°43' wide). Saturn also squares natal Mercury (2°50'). All of this likely refers to campaigning, where these aspects mean conflict, people not listening to him, and people trying to stop him. Saturn square Uranus shows more opposition. Yet, during it all, his natal Sun-Venus as the strongest presence says he's having a great time.

And the BEST signal of the whole chart is transiting Sun conjunct his natal Midheaven (0°12'). He's in charge and he shines. You will hear words like "electric' used to describe him in the press. He'll have disappointments, but the main take-aways are (1) it's only a moderately important chart - this won't be the biggest month of his life, probably - and (2) he's feeling pleased and strong.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Sep 27)
Effective Sep 26-Oct 10. Things get harder for him the last half of his personal month. His Demi-Lunar has Mercury 0°15' from Nadir and a mere 0°06' (mundo) from opposite Neptune. The three foreground transiting planets are Mercury, Mars, and Neptune, which paint a toxic picture. Something important and hurtful to him occurs in these two weeks.

No one is surprised when misrepresentation and distortion are encountered on the campaign trail. The current signals, though, might mean that something important has happened but the White House can't get the accurate information in needs. Standard Mercury-Neptune keywords swarm around all sides of this possibility: enthrallment, deception, fanciful thinking, impracticality, frustration of plans, confusion, disorientation, and bad choices. Biden is vulnerable to being deceived, misled, or kept in the dark. Communication and transportation malfunction. Personally, he may blurt out the wrong thing to his embarrassment. For two weeks, his guidelines should be that he NOT speak when he has any doubt.

Non-angular partile aspects add details. You probably see the long-term Pluto opposition to his Jupiter above, but probably missed that transiting Sun squares them. The Sun transit to his Jupiter is only 0°08' wide. It's positive. Of greater concern is Sun's conjunction with his Neptune (which, mundanely, is only 0°53' wide). What does all this mean? There's a lot of showmanship going on, a lot we don't see at first, and a lot that has Biden worried for a while; but transiting Jupiter's opposition to his Neptune eases those anxieties.

Geographic areas centered on map lines have a roughly 150-200 mile leeway (3°) for strong effects. For these mappings of planetary energies, see standard interpretations in Chapter 8 of Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the free current edition can always be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) Readers may wish to consider all planet lines and intersections against the standard interpretations.

Transits to Capsolar Planets

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Transits to Capsolar planets are important identifiers for locales where the 'natal' planet was angular in the Capsolar, or where it spins to a CapQ angle at the time of the aspect.

t Pluto co Capsolar Pluto START to Sep 6
t Neptune sq Capsolar Mars Sep 6 to END

t Mars sq Capsolar Neptune Sep 20 to END

Outer Planet Sign Transits

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Pluto in Capricorn (2021-2038)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 906#p33904
Harsher, struggling, dystopian: people doubt they will regain guarantees of safety or security from violence, economic crisis, or cultural breakdown. Autonomous self-sufficiency, struggle for survival. Need to preserve and restore survivability of the planet. Shortages of land, secure living space, and privacy (territorial conflicts). Hunger and dwelling insecurity. People determining anew how they want to be governed. Control vs. being controlled. Increased social isolation and focus on survival (anticipating breakdown of society or survivability of the world with depleting stability and resources). Intensified tensions between individual survival vs. connected wider community, and between uplifted and controlling classes vs. the debased and controlled classes. Breakdown of old structures and outmoded patterns. Bedrock financial institutions are challenged and reassessed. New economies emerge, including a structural reconceiving of work, jobs, employment, and earnings. Anything father-themed comes under attack (and retaliates). Ancient grievances and resentments are renewed. Society's relationship to aging and the aged will change necessarily. Revolution in pharmacology.

Neptune in Aquarius (2009-2023)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=388
Suppressed or diffused social progressiveness, squashed rebellions, deranged concepts of liberty, all setting the stage for a future conflict or breakthrough after the transit is over. Imagined new vistas and possibilities without current capacity to reach or manage them. Roused socialist-leaning liberalism. Failure of universalism, futurism, or true enlightenment to flourish. Shortage of dispassionate clarity, fostered ignorance.

This transit reflects living in a time when most people feel like we are living in a science fiction wonderland, "imagining the inconceivable." Change happens so fast, technical progress accelerating far beyond any vision prior generations had to the 21st century (provided it doesn't involve transportation). One aspect of this is increased complexity with life changing faster than neurology can grasp, manage, and keep up. It has fostered technological surveillance and loss of privacy.

Uranus in Aries (2017-2025)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 2560#p2560
A volatile time politically. Issues of economics, government, and accelerated armament. Great challenges to the stability of existing alliances: Acute polarization splits former allies (individuals, social groups, or nations) along new axes. Widespread dissatisfaction fuels repudiation of historic closely held views and values. Each such era, while people are passing through it, feels like a transitions between a concluding old cycle and an opening new cycle.

An unyielding, unremitting sense of emergency exists, then autocratic governance increases. Extraordinary autocratic power is yielded (voluntarily granted) to national leaders, who acquire increasing dominion of economic and social issues. Armament, safety, going one's way alone without the encumbrances of alliances... these win out over the demand for personal liberty and social equality. The masses seem more comfortable with an authoritarian father figure to "make everything OK." Absent a state of war, there me be a suspension of checks and balances on autocracy normal to martial law.

Increased polarization and struggle between opposing extremes - each historic period has its own example, whether it be arising fascism vs. socialism (or political elements that, if more extreme, would have emerged as overtly fascist or socialist, extremism of right vs. left), opposing views on slavery, Catholic vs. Protestant wars, etc. Economics (especially trade) are unstable, in a precarious balance. Economics policies become more nationalistic and autistic, increasingly protective, to defend against trade inequities and competition imbalances. Extreme unrest in economically hurting populations.

Saturn in Capricorn (Jan 2020 - Jan 2023)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 344#p28419
Individual and political struggles for survival, autonomy, and self-sufficiency. Land & space: Shortages of land and secure space, redefining boundaries; territorial acquisitions and annexations, mineral rights, mining conflicts; walls, embargoes, spatial segregation, splitting historically separate countries into autonomous nations. Earth & water crises: Ecological concerns regarding climate change; land- and water-based retaliations by the Earth against destabilizing climate change; volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, no-warning fire outbreaks; water and land rights and conservation. Hunger, food-security, and dwelling issues including crop failures and famine; further crumbling of farming as a viable livelihood; hunger may be weaponized (or may be addressed aggressively). Earth-mindful rebellion religions thrive, including renewal and empowerment of paganism. Major finance developments: Vast financial institutional restructuring and management, especially favoring capitalism. Changes in how we collectively control money and commerce including bedrock foundations, controls, and financial restructuring; institutions aimed at money security are created or strengthened; long-standing economic hardship and social disenfranchisement boil over. Fear: Focus on how we manage and respond to it. Disabilities and misfortune draw focus: "Inferiority" (so-called) more visible; disability and genetic bigotry; widespread civil liberties conflicts and civil rights resistance activism. Relief from the arts and laughter.

I think that terrible stuff we've been watching for around LA all year is basically the heat.

Every shooting or other violent event in the state has been along the Capsolar Moon-Mars line. For LA specifically, though, it's just deadly-level heat.

The Liblunar forecast cites Saturn for the longitude of Miami. That's not precisely where Ian will hit, but probably well within orb (and certainly close for the Florida capital). I'll look closer after the storm hits when we have landfall time and place and can assess damage.
