New Moon August 27, 2022

Post by Jim Eshelman »

I've barely looked at New Moon and Full Moon charts for years because of the concentrated work done here on Sidereal solar and lunar ingresses. These syzygy charts are the backbone of mundane astrology work that doesn't have the benefit of the Sidereal ingresses, and I've always taken them to be valid - though not at the same level as the ingresses. (Astonishing examples are rarer.)

I thought I might look at them here for a while, along the lines of the brightest people who used them. Bradley, who (under a variety of pen names) wrote mundane forecasts with them for over 30 years, was always most taken by exact aspects to the New Moon or Full Moon. Historically, there has been no particular attention on angularity, though we can surely be forgiven for presuming it might be important.

The August 27 New Moon at 9°00' Leo is 0°02' from square Mars. Successful forecasts in the past have anticipated that around the world there would be a greater number of severe Mars events for two to four weeks - the obvious things like natural disasters, fires, explosions, violence. (The usual way of interpreting these is house-heavy, and in this case for Washington would say that the 11H Mars square the 2H New Moon shows conflicts in Congress over budget and similar matters. I'll mention this, but I don't expect this to be a specific result any more than any given month Congress is in session.)

In Washington, Pluto is angular but not closely. (One could take the Pluto-Eris square for further information.) Worldwide there is also a close Vernus-Saturn opposition square Uranus, so the presence of real loss-filled tragedy does mark this chart.

It will be interesting to see if anything happens to substantiate these readings.
