US forecast Nov 27 - Dec 24, 2022

Post by Jim Eshelman »

USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning NOVEMBER 27, 2022

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Ch 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 15, 2022 to Jan 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Jan 15-30 forecast.)
  • An accounting cycle for the Biden administration. Republican gains seem certain in the midterm elections.
  • Sun conjunct Pluto (1°21'): Unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law (greater lawlessness). People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable. More people think of themselves as "a law unto oneself" or exception to the rules. Many possibilities, from natural disasters to political confrontation.
  • Since May 22, Sun-Pluto has progressed to within 1°00'. This progression lasts until January. We are in the part of 2022 when the above Sun-Pluto phenomena come into their own.
  • Moon-Mars-Neptune: Crime is up. Neighborhoods feel more dangerous. Ferocious civil unrest. What was once called "civilization" rips open with unaddressed grievance while struggling to settle into new patterns in which people feel safer and more secure.
  • Sun-Pluto with Moon-Mars-Neptune: Increased physical threat to the president or the Federal government as a whole (perhaps through heightened domestic terrorism).
  • Moon opposite Mars (affecting the world as a whole): A state of alarm. Typical expressions: violence, blood, fire, earthquakes, accidents, other destruction; often significant loss of life. Other expressions: war, bombings and explosions, other attacks, deaths of leaders. Moon square Neptune (local to Washington): Waves of emotional reaction, fervor, herd-mind arousal, or panic accompanied by confusion, disorientation, uncertainty, and an undermined sense of security. Mars-Neptune: Panic or feeling the ground fall from under one’s feet - surging adrenaline with heightened aroused emotion - increasing the risk of treachery, sabotage, other betrayal, poisoned relationships, and scandal.
  • Sun/Mercury = IC: Broadly intensifies and highlights Mercury themes, including transportation, commerce, and science. Mercury square Uranus: Scientific and technological advances continue (no turning from technology). Freedom and flexibility in communication and travel are big break-out themes, including significant expansion and redesign in social media's impact. Science continues to have direct, relevant influence on people's changing lives.
  • Mercury-Uranus impacts social trends: With growing urgency of antisocial independence and autonomous self-sufficiency, with people feeling exempt from precedents and historic social standards, "independent thinking" becomes a rallying cry (though probably more of a fantasy than a reality: herd-mind passions surge the cry for "independent" opinion). Passion-fed rejection of expert opinion, reliance on crowd opinion, other challenges to convention or authority. “Don’t tell me how to think” takes on new, widespread life.
Libsolar (Oct 18)
Effective Oct 18, 2022 to April 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Oct 3-31 forecast.)
  • Matters begun now will have unusual impact and continuity through the first part of 2023.
  • Pluto 0°08' from IC square Sun-Venus: Repeats Sun-Pluto from the Capsolar: This is the quarter when the Year Chart's promise ripens. The Biden administration faces an accounting cycle. Republican gains seem certain. We face unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law. People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable.
  • Venus rising conjunct Sun: Common for events that resolve conflict and bring peace. Venus issues are at the forefront, e.g., abortion rights will be a primary issue impacting the balloting. Might this also forecast a peaceful resolution to existing conflict and threats?
  • Venus-Pluto (0°29'): An irrevocable change in relationships. Along with purely local expression (e.g., natural disasters) and social impact (e.g., marriage and reproductive rights), between nations this refers to significant shifts in alliances and antipathies. This will be its fundamental theme. I stand hopeful that the predominantly peaceful tone of the chart will prevail.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)
Transiting Pluto continues to square Capsolar Ascendant all month. Transiting Mars heats things up for a few days worldwide as it squares Cansolar Moon Nov 28-Dec 3. Beginning Dec 12, CanQ Moon is partile square ingress Neptune. This breaks out the following zones:
  • Nov 27: Pluto
  • Nov 28-Dec 3: Pluto Mars
  • Dec 4-10: Pluto
  • Dec 11 to END: Pluto Neptune
Mars spends all month in Taurus. Neptune is stationary December 3 (27°35' Aqu). Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Caplunar (Nov 27)
Effective November 27 to December 24, especially the first two weeks, November 27-December 11. This is a positive month marked by increased prosperity and national successes. Jupiter exactly on Nadir may simply be a surge in the benevolent spirit of the month ending Christmas Eve (happy holidays, everyone!), though widespread consumer spending isn't expected. The nation may experience all sorts of victories - military, athletic, diplomatic, even a climbing stock market most weeks this month - but another aspect suggests the abundance isn't evenly spread: Jupiter has an exact (0°05') mundane square to a nonangular Sun which, while strengthening most Jupiter expressions, has a distinct flavor of seeing that the wealthy and aristocratic benefic disproportionately compared to everyone else.

There may, however, be some breakthrough, lame duck legislation that benefits everyone, and the East Coast is likely to have a lot of rain or snow. - The distantly angular Mars (square a background Neptune) doesn't look too threatening except for stretches of the country where it is most angular: from Louisiana across Mississippi and western Tennessee and Kentucy into Ohio and through Detroit. Expect winter storms across this line (or possibly a late season tropical storm in Louisiana-Mississippi).

Arilunar (Dec 4)
The Arilunar is dormant for Washington: The Caplunar persists another week. However, with a critical U.S. Senate run-off election in Georgia December 6, the Arilunar for Atlanta has both Moon and Pluto within a degree of an angle. Pluto 0°13' at first glance signifies overturning existing conditions. However, the Moon-Pluto combination (when both are closely angular) is known not only for stunning, unexpected (hard to predict) results, but also for uprisings of the people. Presuming the latter outcome, and given the rising outrage against the challenger, the incumbent candidate is likely to win, which has great importance for the U.S. Senate balance. - New England gets truly miserable weather.

Canlunar (Dec 11)
Effective Dec 11-18. This week is the main exception to the general upbeat tone of the month. Saturn on Nadir means contraction, probably in the shape of bad retail news but possibly in other areas. It's not surprising news, though: The Saturn-Uranus square has moved apart several degrees. We're likely to see dour forecasts, many fewer seasonal temp jobs, and conservatives winning a few arm-wrestling rounds with their liberal colleagues.

A Saturn-Uranus co-angularity on Mississippi's gulf coast is typical of collapsing buildings, so we're still concerned with late season gulf storms.

Liblunar (Dec 18)
Effective Dec 18-24. Things are in flux, requiring much adaptation, quick thinking, and keeping up with the facts. This is because, in addition to a widely rising Uranus and the usual Moon-Pluto square, we have Moon and Mercury closely angular and in partile square, as the mundoscope above shows.

Moon-Mercury combinations tell us that events will draw abundant media attention and spotlight “human interest” or “public response” themes. Besides the celebrity and media element, expect themes of flight, wind, and swiftness, other situations (as in business) that involve publications and voluminous paperwork or its digital equivalent, and transportation-themed events in general. The news media will seem happy not to have extra time off for the holidays. Facts, science, motion, strategic mobilization, everybody wanting up-to-the-minute reports will prevail.

The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

An interpretation of Pres. Biden's November 20, 2022 Sidereal Solar Return (SSR) was given here: https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 744#p49543

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Dec 4)
Effective Dec 4-31. Natal Mercury and Jupiter are closely angular, forming a wide mundane square (3°29'). Pluto rises within 0°28' aspecting both, with Pluto's transit to Jupiter being the chart's closest aspect. Pluto to Mercury-Jupiter is the main theme of the chart; yet, Mercury is also ecliptically square Saturn (which is widely angular), so Saturn and Pluto transiting Mercury is a secondary theme.

From this, I conclude that Biden, bringing his best and most resourceful, is facing stiff resistance and still standing strong. Admittedly, one doesn't need astrology to expect this result given this month's political realities, but perhaps the difference is in the details. Pluto rising exactly means that circumstances shift dramatically around him, which may be the post-election political realities or something else: The world will bring the circumstances to him, and he'll have to deal with whatever they are.

Pluto opposite natal Jupiter has been consistently positive for him. While it allows for political tensions and opposition, the main thing it accomplishes is anchoring his authority amidst a shifting political balance. Mercury square Jupiter, though wide, shows he isn't out of tricks, plans, or luck: With Pluto, it's a good month for him to roll the dice. Pluto mundanely square his Mercury is a "thinking outside the box" transit signaling a revolution in his thinking: He knows he has to find new ways to think and strategies for the next two years.

Right now, he faces resistance that probably will undercut his agenda for Congress' lame duck weeks. While Pluto to Mercury challenges his way of thinking, Saturn square his Mercury adds that people aren't listening. He needs to be methodical, strategic, and patient. He probably won't get what he wants right now, but is quite busy laying plans for next year. (A 0°04' Moon-Mercury mundane square confirms that there is a LOT of planning underway.)

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Dec 19)
Effective Dec 19-31. Mostly, this demi-lunar reinforces the full SLR, suggesting that the second half of the month is much the same as the first. It does, however, concentrate earlier themes, bringing them to a head.

Transiting Pluto is a mere 0°02' from IC. Circumstances are still shifting dramatically. With both Moon's on the Eastpoint axis, transiting Pluto squares transiting Moon within half a degree in right ascension. [Natal and transiting Moons have different latitudes, so the aspect to natal Moon is not as close.] Shifting conditions, therefore, seem uprooting, shaking foundations, and emotionally closer to home. This could mean confronting circumstances affecting his family; but Biden feels most things deeply, so it is as likely to be hard realities facing the nation as, say, Hunter's laptop (or, for that matter, Hillary's emails).

Pluto opposite natal Jupiter continues close and prominent. He is firmly in power and wins new dignity and respect. If the new House leadership can forge a working coalition (which is unclear as I write this), their opposition may give Biden-the-scrapper something meaty to wrestle. If so, he'll be on his own turf and likely strengthened by it.

One more thing, something experimental that we get to test: Transiting Eris is 3°25' from Descendant. Mundanely, transiting Eris squares natal Jupiter (1°58') in the foreground and transiting Jupiter conjoins natal Eris 0°22' in the background.

Observations to date of natal Jupiter-Eris aspects suggest that chaos brings out the best in such people: They rise to the occasion best when things are falling apart. While the aspect may show disruptive circumstances around success and prosperity, Jupiter-Eris people seem to manage their greatest successes in uncertain, undecided times and conditions. If Eris is astrologically viable AND we're on the right track with its symbolism, then these themes should unfold strongly during these two weeks. Given current uncertain times and conditions, this should draw out the president's best.

The final passage this morning of the bipartisan of the marriage freedom act - now headed to Biden's desk for signature - is consistent with both the national charts (Caplunar primarily) and Biden's chart.

Venus and Jupiter are even on CapQ Descendant and IC for Washington this morning.

Re: US forecast Nov 27 - Dec 24, 2022

Yesterday, the House select committee on January 6 issued the final report of its investigation and concluded its activities, referring Donald Trump and four others to the DOJ for criminal prosecution, with four charges against Trump including insurrection. The committee concluded that the cause of the January 6 events was one man, Donald Trump, supported by those who listened to him.

Whether this goes any farther in the future this is a momentous event. Do the forecasts capture any part of it? As a matter of fact, they do. One of the reminders of this is to remember that, in a national forecast, not only the current president is signified by Sun: There are other solar figures. I thin much that the solar ingresses said that I attributed to Biden was really all about Trump this year and quarter. Here are some excerpts from this month's forecast:
