How Do we Calculate Mundane Radical Position

Post by Venus_Daily »

How do we calculate Mundane position of natal planets. Say, Mars or Uranus and it's proximity to the ASC/DSC or their position in relation to mundane transiting planets? Particularly in Solar Fire.

To calculate in Solar Fire the mundoscope positions of a given single chart (such as a natal, or a solar return, but NOT including natal planets in a Solar Return, select the chart and click the "Harmonics etc." button (or press the F6 key) and select Z-Analogue Prime Vertical.

You cannot calculate NATAL PLANETS INSIDE A SOLAR RETURN this way. In fact, there is no way to do that in solar fire because (among other considerations) it requires you precess the natal planets' equatorial coordinates to the date of the SSR (and SF doesn't do that). You need a trick, such as using an Excel spreadsheet I created (I'm trying to get people away from having to do this, but it's still a viable solution) here:
https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1544

But there's a far easier way! Mike Nelson's free TMSA software doe all the work for you and even calculates the aspects and filters out the foreground planets. It's the preferred, recommended approach going forward: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6076

For example, here's what your 2023 SSR for Page, AZ looks like in TMSA. You want to look at the PVL (Prime Vertical Longitude) column for the mundoscope positions, or simply the Ang column which is percentage of strength. There is also a digital chart display, but I'm just copying the data tables:
