How to explain to Tropicalists.

Post by JD Fan »

How to explain to Tropicalists, that there's only one zodiac and that one is Lahiri/FaganB?

Since the tropicalist zodiac is just an abuse of real astrology, in which signs are read with much prejudice (the scientific thing)

How to do it? Anyone?

It isn't Lahiri BTW. Statistics and archaeology are both quite clear about that with no room for uncertainty.

Having said that, I'm not exactly sure what your question is. It seems your question might vary with the person you're talking to, depending on how their mind works or what's important to them.

I decided to join this forum after recently finding out about Sidereal astrology. What is the one thing which makes Sidereal astrology accurate and Tropical astrology inaccurate? Thanks!

What is the ONE thing? It is that the boundaries of the signs are with no reasonable question or doubt at 0° of the Sidereal signs (currently about 25° of the Tropical signs). Dozens of statistical studies over decades repeatedly show that twelve equal signs of 30° do exist, but the boundaries aren't where the Tropical zodiac says they are: Instead, they fall at about 24° of the Tropical signs for data from most of the 20th century, at 23° of the Tropical signs for data gathered from the early 20th and late 19th century, etc.

In other words, the Sidereal signs are stable and the Tropical boundaries keep scooting across the real zodiac.

Finally, the place where statistics currently show the sign boundaries to be is EXACTLY where archaeology shows them to have been during the first five millennia of astrology's history: the Sidereal boundaries.

You asked for ONE thing, and that's what I'd say. If I were to name a second (nearly equal) thing it would be that important predictive techniques - such as those that occur every year when Sun exactly gets back to natal Sun, or every month when Moon gets back to natal Moon, are all wrong if calculated in the Tropical zodiac. The Tropical zodiac slides backwards 50" a year so these solar and lunar return charts occur at the wrong times if calculated in the Tropical zodiac.

"Sidereal astrology" is actually a pleonasm --- rendered into plain English, what the Latin in the first word and the Greek in the second, of the whole phrase put together like that, say is:
"stars-related science-about-stars".
We mostly use it for practical purposes, to distinguish the astrological work/observations which *are* astro-logical, from the error-and-its-accrual 'forking in the road' development (within Astrology as one of human species' oldest scientific 'fields' of inquiry) that came to be known in more recent times as "tropical astrology".

For further info --- from which perhaps you can yourself arrive to "the One thing" as your question-context-related satisfactory accuracy-"making-or-breaking"-thing :) --- you may find of use this article [written over 12 years ago now, so am not exactly super-happy with it presently, but it does stand as functional for briefly & succinctly conveying the main points]:

Jim’s above words is the key IMHO.

Quasar, this is exactly the same question I asked myself when I first discovered Sidereal Astrology. After studying Tropical Astrology for 10 years I was very dissatisfied with their timing charts from a symbolic truth sense, their charts were like a dead note for me. But when I started to experiment with Sidereal Astrology charts learning how to calculate them on my computer, I was floored by the symbolic truths they contained with the incidents/events in my life. The Key Charts used in Sidereal Astrology are their Solar & Lunar Returns! I was very lucky and ran across Jim’s out of print 70s book “Interpreting Solar Returns” and started looking at my past Solar Returns and Jim’s book proved to me the valuable timing of important things in my life with Sidereal Solar Returns (SSR). IMO, any new astrologer to Sidereal Astrologer must first learn how to calculate their Sidereal Solar Returns and then examine them with the back drop of their individual life. This will eventually prove to the new astrologer the true worth of Sidereal Astrology! What astrology program are you using? Maybe I can get you started on calculating your Sidereal Astrology Solar Returns in order to examine some of the important incidents in your life?

Major astrology software like Solar Fire and Janus 5 calculate Sidereal charts. We also have a free program available on this site called TMSA that you can download and install on Windows computers: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6076
