Max, good to see you here. Welcome.
If you get the chance, you may want to add your birth data here also:
https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=25
Here's a copy of your chart data from our free software package, TMSA (which you can download from its own forum higher up on the forum) [repaired: Patrick caught a mistake in the original]:
Because we know you, I'm going to adjust your account so you can see some private discussion areas and other topics that you otherwise wouldn't see for a while.
Meanwhile... anything you'd like to ask or say?

Hi Max, good to see you here!
Re: Hello, my friends
Thank you for the warm welcome! I am glad to be here.
I am new to astrology, so I'm currently reading a lot of the more informational posts on the forum to try to get a grasp on the foundations.
I'm very interested in using astrology for not only learning about myself, others, and the cosmos, but also in using astrology for timing activities and events. For example, the planetary hours/rulers correspondences in the Hygromanteia have really interested me.
Anyway, I'm a total beginner but I am thoroughly enjoying everything so far.
Thank you!

Hi, Max. Welcome.
That chart data is for one hour later than what I get for Max's stated birth data. Daylight savings time.Jim Eshelman wrote: Wed Apr 24, 2024 10:13 pmCode: Select all

For the latter, you might want to start (and, perhaps, end) with transits and Solar and Lunar Returns.Max wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:55 pmI'm very interested in using astrology for not only learning about myself, others, and the cosmos, but also in using astrology for timing activities and events.

Patrick, you're absolutely right. When I was copying this from SF to TMSA, I typed a wrong hour. (And I thought Max had an angular Pluto as, in fact, he does.)Patrick Machado wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:05 pm That chart data is for one hour later than what I get for Max's stated birth data. Thanks for catching this. I'll replace the one above so the wrong one isn't confusing.

Re: Hello, my friends
All testing I've ever done - whether applied to individual charts or to ritual and vision timing - leads to the conclusion that planetary hours aren't legit. You'll do much better selecting the time that the desired planet is exactly crossing an angle (horizon or meridian).Max wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:55 pm I'm very interested in using astrology for not only learning about myself, others, and the cosmos, but also in using astrology for timing activities and events. Anything else you want to learn about, just ask and we'll do what we can. I'm on a three-year project to get everything committed to a three-volume book so that everybody has a "from the start: A B C 1 2 3" path, but we're not there yet. You might want to check out the PowerPoints (as PDFs) from a former class series here:
Foundations: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4709
Solunar Returns: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4710
(Not the same as attending a full class, but it's a start.)

Re: Hello, my friends
Thank you very much. Someday, I'd love to learn more about how you test these concepts. I have a stargazing app on my phone and just looking at the current positions of the Sun and Moon, they are clearly closer to Aries and Scorpio (respectively) than what my (Tropical) Astrology app lists as their current positions (Taurus and Sagittarius). I think we might be on to something.Jim Eshelman wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2024 1:00 pm All testing I've ever done - whether applied to individual charts or to ritual and vision timing - leads to the conclusion that planetary hours aren't legit. Thank you! I'm trying out TMSA and have a question:Jim Eshelman wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2024 1:00 pm Anything else you want to learn about, just ask and we'll do what we can.
How do I determine what to enter for Time, Time Zone, and TZ Corr for myself and others? For example, I was born at 5:08 AM in Pasadena, CA.
Thank you!

Re: Hello, my friends
For your birth year, TMSA should provide it. Type "Pasadena, CA" and click phone.
If I'm wrong, then one has to look it up in other resources. Your time zone is PDT, 7 hours west of Greenwich.

Hey, good evening. I notice that your data varies slightly from Jim's. Is that because of Daylight Savings? How did you arrive at that?Patrick Machado wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:05 pm That chart data is for one hour later than what I get for Max's stated birth data. Daylight savings time.

The data now in his first reply to the thread is correct. (If we use specifically the coordinates for the hospital, it's marginally different. Nothing of consequence.) Never mind the data I had quoted.

Re: Hello, my friends
Looks like tomorrow, Mars is going to be in conjunction with Mars on my natal chart. Is that of any significance, and if so, what can I expect or what might I undertake?

All transits are significant. Mars conjunct Mars, in the broader sense, shows a roughly 18-to-24-month of your life closing and another opening. Read the T MARS conjunct N MARS paragraph on this page: https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=238#p1612Max wrote: Tue May 14, 2024 5:54 pm Looks like tomorrow, Mars is going to be in conjunction with Mars on my natal chart. While it can be combative, in day-to-day flow the worst I usually get from it is a tendency to burn energy from both ends and feel a bit beat up because of it.
