I've mentioned this before (long ago) but never documented it fully: USA progressed Mars (Hazelrigg-George chart) has been pummeling the U.S. chart since in the many years surrounding its 2006 station at 27°05' Virgo.
It's been active for our entire to and a half century history, of course, though post-WW II has been as strong run on luminaries and angles in particular (after its square to natal Venus in 1947 and Jupiter in 1954). One of the things this has meant is that we have been in long-term war of one kind or another. I think this has also had economic impact.
The loop will continue until progressed Mars turns direct at 8°24' Virgo (7' from trine Pluto) in 2086. Here - to start with a simple example - are the dates of progressed Mars' exact aspects to natal points since 1960:
1974 Jan - Sun square
1975 May - Ascendant conjunct
1979 Oct - Saturn conjunct
1982 Dec - Midheaven square
1990 Feb - EP-a conjunct
--- STATIONARY 2006 Oct ---
2022 Jun - EP-a conjunct
2028 Oct - Midheaven square
2031 Aug - Saturn conjunct
2035 Jul - Ascendant conjunct
2036 Sep - Sun square
NOTE: To conveniently calculate (within a negligible error) Mars conjunct EP to RA contact, I noted that progressed Mars at 26°45' Virgo had an RA that put it exactly on the angle at 27°59' Virgo, or 1°14' later. Therefore (even though this would change slightly between passes), I adjusted the EP-a longitude by subtracting 1°14' to get 25°31' Virgo, and took Mars' ecliptic pass of that minute.

Re: USA progressed Mars
That was the simple view. There is a more complex one I want to show. Because of Mars' slowing speed, it is remaining within partile orb for years at a time. I want to compile a list of when each of these aspects began and ended (partile boundary) and see what years actually were gaps between these - then see if that list of years is meaningful.
1970 Nov to 1977 May - Sun
1972 Feb to 1978 Oct - Ascendant
1976 Mar to 1983 Oct - Saturn

Re: USA progressed Mars
As you can see, there is much overlap in these dates. I will now consolidate them while still retaining information about the exact points Mars aspected:
1970 Nov to 1972 Feb - Sun
1972 Feb to 1976 Mar - Sun, Ascendant
1976 Mar to 1977 May - Sun, Ascendant, Saturn
1977 May to 1978 Oct - Ascendant, Saturn
1978 Oct to 1979 Feb - Saturn
1979 Feb to 1983 Oct - Saturn, Midheaven
1983 Oct to 1985 Mar - Midheaven
1985 Mar to 1987 Jun - Midheaven, Eastpoint-a
1985 Mar to Dec 1996 - Eastpoint-a
2016 Apr to 2024 Nov - Eastpoint-a
2024 Nov to 2026 Nov - Eastpoint-a, Midheaven
2026 Nov to 2028 Feb - Midheaven
2028 Feb to 2032 Mar - Midheaven, Saturn
2032 Mar to 2032 Jun - Saturn
2032 Jun to 2033 Sep - Saturn, Ascendant
2033 Sep to 2034 Sep - Saturn, Ascendant, Sun
2034 Sep to 2038 May - Ascendant, Sun
2038 May to 2039 Jul - Sun
From 1970 to 2038, the only time progressed Mars was NOT conjunct, opposite, or square natal Sun, Saturn, or an angle was 1996 to 2016. This was certainly not a time we were NOT at war - we most definitely were. And, if I'd taken the longitude of EP-a instead of correctly calculating it in RA, it would have looked like there was no interruption at all. There were, of course, other progressions during that time, including Mars progressions, and these especially were the years surrounding progressed Mars' station. Some key progressions (exact dates only) are:
1999 Nov - p Uranus stationary
2002 Apr - p Asc co r Mars
2003 Nov - p Asc sq r Neptune
2006 Oct - p Mars stationary
2013 Jul - p MC sq r Uranus
2013 Dec - p Sun sq r Uranus
2016 Nov - p Mercury stationary
That gap doesn't fit an obvious stage of history that is free of martial trends. Nonetheless, I thought this worth documenting it. I also see a lot of market trigger points in these lists.
FWIW.

Re: USA progressed Mars
I apologize if this is detailed elsewhere, but I never see anyone talking about transits in prime vertical longitude, at least not in personal prognostics - and I don't recall seeing PVL transits talked about in a mundane context either. I'm a bit surprised whenever I contemplate this, since they seem operative in all chart contexts. Is there a reason why they aren't used, or are they used and I'm just missing those usages?Jim Eshelman wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 3:54 pm NOTE: To conveniently calculate (within a negligible error) Mars conjunct EP to RA contact...

I'm happy to elaborate on all of this. But pour yourself something to drink this won't be quick.Mike V wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 6:55 pmI apologize if this is detailed elsewhere, but I never see anyone talking about transits in prime vertical longitude, at least not in personal prognostics - and I don't recall seeing PVL transits talked about in a mundane context either. First, just to be clear - what I wrote above was about a square in RA (taking the EP contact in RA, i.e., EP-a). You the asked about transits in PVL. I'm going to assume that you know the difference and something in what I wrote about progressions to an equatorial point in RA triggered the (unrelated) question about transits in PVL.
For the rest, I wrote a long answer and then relocated it to its own thread here:
