MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)

A few days around November 17 are the most volatile of the year. Transiting Uranus conjunct Capsolar Ascendant has been with us most of the summer sparking surprises, refreshment, and a feeling of renewal and breaking free. Before it fades this month, it briefly overlaps transiting Mars conjunct CanQ Moon beginning November 11, joined on the 17th by Mars crossing Capsolar IC. The period Nov 17-20 is thus a URANUS + double MARS ZONE: explosive, often with startling violence, psychological (and sometimes physical) “bombshells,” and similar events such as collisions, eruptions, and surprise attacks. Mars then remains on Capsolar IC through (and after) its station right after the next Caplunar.

Meanwhile, Uranus backs into Aries and the nation sits under a confusing, deluding progressed Moon-Neptune opposition stirring disorientation and strong emotions all month. A summary of all outer planet sign transits can be found here.

Saturn is 0°09' from square Ascendant. Neptune conjoins IC. This is a dark, dreary month of anxiety tinged with grief and other churning negative emotion nationwide. For good reason or bad, it may feel as if all the light has gone out of the world.

Our reflex at such times is to exaggerate the negativity. It may help to know that things usually are not as objectively bad as they feel. People are drawn to the heroism of sacrifice and renunciation for others' well-being. It is the deceptive, insidious threat of the moment that feeds the emotions.

Yet there IS genuine threat. Moon aspects Mars and Pluto, effective worldwide and more focused in the U.S. A three-cornered Mercury-Mars-Neptune mundane aspect - Mercury near the horizon, Neptune near the meridian, and Mars near the prime vertical - adds to the "horror flick" feeling of a threat we can't clearly see or understand, yet which feels as close as cold breath on our necks.

Individual weeks of the month should be understood within the context of this persistent apprehension. 

ARILUNAR (Nov 13) Effective Nov 13-19

Clarity breaks through. While transiting Uranus remains conjunct Capsolar Ascendant, the Arilunar has Uranus 0°00' from Eastpoint in RA. There remains a sense of emergency, but the threat is now out in the open.

Several recent lunar ingresses have had Moon-Mars aspects. This week has the closest of this series, Moon square Mars 0°09' mundo. Wars have begun under such cumulative Moon-Mars contacts, which signal objective threat and open conflict. This breaking into the open theme is perhaps the chief characteristic, since the already-multiplied angular Uranus is intensified by an angular Sun-Uranus opposition.

Mercury square Saturn, close and closely angular, suggests unusual restrictions, delays, failures, blockages, or calamity relating to transportation, communication, and the movement of data. Any open interference in the recent presidential election appears now.

Near the end of this week, Uranus + Mars + Mars in the Bridge (see above) suggest explosiveness and volatility especially centered on November 17.

CANLUNAR (Nov 19) Effective Nov 19-Dec 4

The last half of the Sidereal month seems less volatile than the first half. Mars transits to Capsolar IC continue some sort of inflammatory conflict through early December but the Canlunar - overseeing two weeks - is not inflammatory.

With Sun exactly on IC, it seems we have our president. A sense of certainty and clear governance prevails. Sun opposes Uranus along the meridian: We feel we have something new, perhaps refreshing or renewing. The Thanksgiving holiday brings a sense of change more than anything else.

The Liblunar is dormant. The Canlunar persists as chart of the week.

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Nov 14)

Effective Nov 13-Dec 11. Mars-Pluto pairings dominate this SLR in three ways. First and strongest, natal Mars and Pluto are exactly on EP and MC, respectively (0°49' from exact square in right ascension). Second, transiting Mars and Pluto are widely angular and within 3° of mundane opposition. Third, transiting Mars-Pluto squares a closely angular Moon (Mars 0°57' and Pluto 0°46', both mundo).

What isn't clear is whether these placements are speaking of his health or life events not directly related to health. Biologically, Moon corresponds to the immune system. In health matters, Moon-Mars corresponds to various forms of inflammation or infection and mobilizing the immune system in response (which can extend to igniting autoimmune diseases). Moon-Pluto describes anomalous and unlikely medical conditions and especially those that are consequent to the profound psychological impact of events; or else catharsis, whether debilitative or healing. Mars-Pluto especially corresponds to the consequences of overstrain, or more specifically conditions involving cell inflammation and the accelerated release of energy.

Usually, such aspects analogize to life events. In either case, he is fighting, inflamed, raging, his physical and psychological defense resources fired up and acting out, probably through themes of forced or blocked power and belligerent individualism.

SIDEREAL SOLAR RETURN (Nov 20)

President Biden has lived through a terrible 2023 solar return. It was clear from the first time we saw the now-outgoing SSR that he would not be re-elected president this year. More broadly, the effects of its Moon-Saturn square and two angular Neptune have been horrendously debilitating to him.

In many ways, his new solar return is worse than the old one, though perhaps with a small measure of forgiveness.

The messengers again are Saturn and Neptune, though this time he has two of each and they are connected. If he observes his birthday in Washington, transiting Saturn is 0°27' from square Ascendant. Natal Saturn and both Neptunes are near angles. The one partile aspect is transiting Neptune in mundane square to natal Saturn 0°44'.

Psychologically, Saturn-Neptune combinations are despondent, depleting, and draining. Physically, it similarly weakens and atrophies. Circumstantially it is especially known to mark removal from office - something we knew was coming as he winds down his half century career in the next several weeks. The aspect commonly signals soul-searching and resignation. Its best consequence, in the end, is acceptance.

Since Biden took office, there have been concerns about his health. In addition to the double Saturn and Neptune, this SSR has its Moon conjunct Mars, opposite Pluto, and square Moon. These aspects are all much closer mundane than ecliptically (Moon-Pluto is 0°22', the others a degree and a half.) Concurrently, transiting Mars is only 0°09' from exact mundane square to natal Moon. These aspects all duplicate those of his current lunar return. Of the many forms they can take, the most likely is an attack on his health, a worsening of his physical condition. The most concerning times are when Moon progresses 0°22' to oppose Pluto (exact Nov 30) or 3°49' to conjoin Mars (exact Apr 5).

The chart has marks of grace, respect, and self-forgiveness. These are the weakest of the major chart factors, so they do not set the main theme of the chart: they are supplemental. First, transiting Jupiter is 4°23' from Descendant. Second, solar return Moon conjoins natal Jupiter 3°22'.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Nov 27)

Effective Nov 26-Dec 11. The second half of President Biden's lunar month is much more upbeat. Despite a foreground Sun-Saturn mundane square that remains burdensome and perhaps hard on his well-being, the chart's strongest features are transiting Sun exactly square Ascendant, natal Sun-Venus angular, and both Uranuses strong.

He feels motivated, takes strong executive action, stands strong in his leadership role, and maybe surprises us given that Sun opposes his Uranus along the meridian. He is limited by circumstances, of course, but seems to throw himself into seeing how much good he can still accomplish as his term enters its final six weeks.
