I still have most of a week left before the demi-lunar but I thought I'd get some impressions down from the first week-plus.

I'm certain the relocation has been a strongly tipping factor (but, by now, that was never in doubt). With transiting Venus exalted and stationary 0°04' from MC, the first thing is that, on the day of the return, we had an astonishing amount of fun wandering desert areas around Cabazon, playing at the dinosaur park, having a shockingly good poké bowl for lunch, hanging with each other and Kali, trying to see the seven-planet alignment but encountering clouds. The day was great.

Since our return, feelings have been on an upswing especially because Kali seems to be doing so much better. (She just might be healing herself, though I'm not going to jump to that conclusion yet). The main thing is that when she eats well, she has energy and is her historic self; if she doesn't, then she isn't. Lately, she's been really into food and the positive results show. This makes us happy.

Against that, energy is still a challenge because work schedules and conditions are still pushing me harder than usual. (If you haven't had transiting Mars to natal Sun for an uninterrupted month, you may have no idea what this is like; and it's still partile and foreground in this SLR.) In the new week starting tomorrow, the rest of my team is running tech for a week-long new associate retreat, so I'm holding down the office by myself (with an all-office town hall with the COO tomorrow). It will likely involve a lot of push-push-push.

Technical assessment of the charts: It's quite fair to summarize benefic and malefic both existing as significant parts of my reality but with benefic energies being the "chairman" of the meeting. This matches two Marses closely angular and a stationary exalted Venus exactly angular. The four other planets that are widely foreground are all natal planets and more benefic than malefic (evening up the score). Besides the precisely angular Venus, the strongest thing felt is transiting Mars square natal Sun foreground. Transiting Venus square my Mars (with possibly three more combinations of Venus and Mars by PVP aspects) enhances the sense of play.

I don't know how strong my natal planet Sun-Jupiter-Uranus mundane aspects are in the mix. (They at least tip the balance of things, but I'm not sure they have overt effect. They're pretty peripheral to the foreground.)

PVP aspects create three new aspects: a natal Venus-Mars square, and both Venus and Mars transiting natal Venus. This joins the transiting Venus to natal Mars of the base chart. It's hard to tell if the three PVP variations are there because the simpler paran is so dominant on its own. Venus-Venus (0°12') feels distinctly right for the tone, but I'm honestly unsure how I'd distinguish this from the dignified, strong transiting Venus angularity on its own. - In trying to assess the PVP aspects, the only thing I can really distinguish is that is that the more conventional aspects are much more obvious and, perhaps, the past-2° orb for PVP aspects is fading. (This may be over-interpreting. Nonetheless, of all four Venus-Mars combinations, transiting Venus PVP square natal Venus (2°24') is the least characteristic of the feel vs. Venus to my Mars, Venus to my Venus, and natal Venus-Mars.)

Other partile aspects: Saturn was close enough to the conjunction of my Moon to be partile in mundo (and by now it's partile ecliptically). Other than things already shown by Mars transits (feeling pushed, work-dominant, etc.), it isn't obviously descriptive. In fact, with Kali having a much better health stretch, it seems quite not like Saturn to Moon. It is certainly NOT a period that I would describe by the combination of Saturn transit to natal Moon plus Pluto transit to natal Sun. I can't credit the non-foreground partile aspects with anything at all.

Original location vs. returning home: The charts aren't all that different. (We only went a couple of hours out of town.) It's essentially the same chart with different proportions. Objectively, that fits because, after all, one has more of a sense of play and pleasure on the vacation-like day off than when one returns to the office (no matter how much I like my office). Still, Venus is the closest angularity (just not overwhelming the malefics with its 0°04' orb). Everything else is about the same.

Demi-SLR 3/13/25

Post by Jim Eshelman »

MARS = 9
Malefic = 12, Benefic = 5
Dignity = 8, Indignity = 5
Spotlight = 5, Change = 3
NAT = 21, Trans = 4

Impressions: [I was considering flying to Salt Lake City to lighten the load on this, but that's not possible now.] A harsh chart from transiting Mars near MC exactly square my Sun. This may just be hyper-busy (like the last few weeks with this transit, plus PSSR Moon op SSR Mars Sunday). More broadly, it is likely the climax of the weeks of transiting Mars and SQ/PSSR Moon converging on each other and my natal Sun.

This chart is also worrisome because of the deep background aspects: It is near the day of Saturn's exact transiting conjunction to my Moon (Saturday); Sun joins Saturn to intensify this; the combination, thus, also includes a partile Full Moon (a lunar eclipse!), which usually means a climax; and they fall in the remote background where, classically, such aspects signify a health threat. With this configuration and a foreground Mars exactly aspecting my Sun, classic interpretation would indeed suggest a health threat (perhaps cardiac, though my heart 'numbers' are all excellent).

25°32' Leo-Aqu - 12th/6th cusp
27°13' Aqu - t Saturn - H6 1°30'

27°24' Aqu - r Moon - H6 2°28'
28°44' Aqu - t Sun - H6 3°16'

All the rest of the negativity comes from inside me (natal planets). In any case, the malefic-benefic balance is a mix. Dignity slightly outweighs indignity. -- If I were to interpret this return as a natal chart, it would describe a fiercely driven, surprisingly ingenious workaholic.

Re: Demi-SLR 3/13/25

Post by Jim Eshelman »

A little more than halfway through, this Demi-SLR has been pretty much what was expected (without the most extreme negative possibilities). Again, most (all?) of this could have been seen from SQ and PSSR Moon's aspecting natal Sun and Mars while transiting Mars aspected all of them. I also had a progressed Moon-Jupiter square last week.

Primarily, there have been minor health concerns - different kinds of inflammation (mostly skin) and a loss of vitality that could have been overwork, or inattentiveness to diet, or allergies... minor stuff but a dominant detail). This site has been under attack with a flood of activity mostly from Singapore that has thrown site traffic through the roof - it may cost me as much as $1,000 extra this month and I'm looking for ways to block or filter it out. On the positive side, I discovered some extraordinary tarot cards gleaming gold in color, airbrushed on thin PVC material that look simply extraordinary and we ordered a couple of decks (with further frustrations and aggravations in delivery speed and details).

So... Malefic 12, Benefic 5. Mars dominant. Dignity inches out indignity. Clearly leaning malefic in nearly all respects but not bad enough to complain too loudly.

The classic (1940s era and a bit thereafter) interpretation of the Sun-Saturn opposite Moon in the deep background as a serious health concern... it's not there. Nothing that severe manifested. Nothing here to dissuade me from my view that background aspects are mostly not operative. There was no "climactic event" from the Sun-Moon opposition (because it's background). The Saturn transits weren't a factor despite their closeness (because they're background). At most, the loss of energy and sometimes finding it hard (due to energy) to stay on-task is consistent simply with a background [transiting] Sun at a time when other indications (e.g., Mars on MC square natal Sun) showed my system was "fighting something off."

The chief aspect was transiting Mars square natal Sun, foreground, 0°14' mundo. Quite accurate.

PVP aspects are hard to assess. The closest is a Uranus transit to my Neptune (0°09'). That's always a hard transit to assess objectively. Certainly (turning to my prewritten text) there were no crashing displacements of point of view or stark liberations from dependency. I can't even say "losing yourself in new interests and ideas" happened. In fact, it was probably more of a time of confirming validity of existing points of view. - I think something more than a new, pretty tarot deck is warranted to validate this aspect.

OTOH, the somewhat wider one - transiting Uranus square natal Sun 1°17' - had at least a possible showing. The significant revelatory experience of December 1987 was unusually present this equinox in a way it hadn't quite settled in for years. This might, though, have been as simple as transiting Moon crossing my IC (setting off everything that was set off in the original experience) at the pivotal moment I'm thinking about. Other than that short period of several minutes, there is nothing obviously transiting Uranus to natal Sun in the last two weeks.

Other (non-foreground) partile aspects were not especially strong anyway. (Nothing would have been lost by ignoring them.) Transiting Saturn conjunct natal Moon (background 0°11') at most deepened the draggy, tired feeling of the rest of the chart (which the rest of the chart handled fine on its own IMO). Transiting Sun conjunct natal Moon (background 0°48') should have at least gotten me some special attention or hurled me more into the spotlight for a moment, and nothing like that happened. The transiting Mercury-Venus conjunction (middleground 0°48') doesn't even stand out any more than usual. (Because I didn't have the gumption to "walk the floors" at work as often as usual, there weren't even the usual number of 'nice conversations' of normal times.) I'd say these were all poor.

The "expanded notes" section including trans-Pluto planets is simply unmanageable. No impressions at all that I can relate to these meaningfully.

Impressions: On balance, a positive chart with romance. Notice, though, that Venus is both strongest and afflicted - by ecliptical conjunction to Neptune (not that bad per se) and mundane conjunction with background Saturn. (I'm glad the Moon-Venus-Saturn conjunction is so cadent.) - Natal Sun exactly on MC probably will shine brightest. - We hope to get away for a couple of days right after this sets up.

I still look at house placements in solunars, just to see if I'm missing anything. (They continue to disappoint me.) If there is anything to them at all, this period should have pronounced, obvious 3rd House themes. (I have low expectations of that.) - Also, natal Vesta is 0°29' below Descendant, squared by the Venus-Neptune conjunction.

t Mercury N -2°42'
t Neptune N -1°16'
