1967 Indianapolis 500

Since Steve likes charts for long-shot wins and reversals, let's see what we have on this one...
I grew up 100 miles north of Indianapolis, and one time went to the Indianapolis 500. (Friends owned a car dealership, had premium comp tickets, the race got delayed a day for weather, they couldn't keep their business closed the next day, they gave Dad the tickets.) We had first or second row seats near the finish line - perfect tickets.
It was 1967 (I was 12), and Parnelli Jones had a miraculous turbine-powered car that, from almost the beginning was way ahead in the race. Nobody stood a chance of keeping up. It got boring. People got up and started to leave - I'd guess at least a fourth of the people at the race left. Then, about three laps before the end, Jones' car blew a bearing and coasted to a slow stop. AJ Foyt, far behind him, zipped around the track, caught up, and won the race.
The race was May 31, 1967, beginning at 10:00 AM. I don't remember how long it ran, and can't find an end time, so I'll use the starting time for a focus on the day. As you can see, there is plenty of Pluto for the long-shot, lots of Uranus for reversals, enough Mercury/Saturn for the punch-line, and mixtures (as in any contest) of loss and glory.
