Lewisham rail crash (1857)

June 28, 1857, about 10:30 PM, London (51N28'03", 0W01'09")
Two trains collided. 11 died, 30 injured. (This is not a structural collapse, but I list it here for whatever use I make.) -- For timing, one train left Strood 9:30 PM (15 minutes behind schedule) and stopped for a signal; a 9:30 train was coming behind it. They collided at a low speed (20 mph), destroying two cars.

I'm not sure how long the ride from Strood to Lewisham is (probably not long), so this was likely before 10 PM. -- More info: Strood to Lewisham is 25 miles so, the train slowing for the station at 20 mph was probably going a little faster most of its run, estimate an hour between the two.
