With all the discussion about my 2023 SSR I thought it might be interesting to discuss my son's upcoming solar return as well. I'll also update his current year when I update mine. My son: 09/29/1997, 6:15 am. Birthplace: Decatur, Ga. Current Residence: Morgantown, WV.
Thankfully it looks like a nicer year for him. Saturn, which has been hanging around the last couple of years, falls to the middleground. The closest angularities are transiting Uranus partile EP nicely aspected by a moderately (or widely) foreground Venus 0*15' & his natal Moon partile NA. He has nice aspects overall although most of his natal angularities are rather wide. Moon aspects include a moderate T.Mo-Ma sq 3*03, T.Mo-N.Sa 2*09, & T.Mo-N.Ne 4*24'. The only one that really concerns me is the one to his Saturn but with his return overall I hope it's not anything major. He's definitely ready to find a romantic partner & I think this SSR points to that becoming a reality. The Mo-Sa could be some insecurities & doubts rising up while in pursuit. He also has a widely foreground but partile natal discovered Ma-Ju sq 0*45'm.
I really hope this means love is in his future. He works really hard & has made some great improvements this year. It would be wonderful to see him happy & in love.

Re: My Son's 2023 SSR
Basically agree: The chart is dominated by benefics overall, with the transiting Venus-Uranus square being the single loudest foreground feature. Then, also, SSR Moon conjoins his Saturn. Because Moon-Saturn is applying, Moon will progress to the exact conjunction (about 2 months after his birthday).
The close and moderate angularities are transiting Venus and Uranus, and natal Moon and Pluto. Besides Venus-Uranus and Moon-Saturn, the other aspect of note is Venus square natal Pluto mundo. On first impression, this is a blend of the other two aspects, a version of transforming/shifting relationships (significant beginnings and/or endings) combined with some element of loss or separation. If malefics dominated the angles, I'd take this as basically "loss in relationship," but the angular planets are predominantly benefic, so it seems more like "new relationships as part of a larger shift in attitudes about relationships, with some significant loss elements along the way."
Or, to repeat and paraphrase: Adventure, excitement, good changes in pleasure, shifts in relationships, and some significant loss as part of or consequent to all that.
Expanding to include wide foreground planets, we add natal Mars and Jupiter. This also adds a lot more foreground aspects. The new planets (like the closer ones) are more benefics than malefics. He gains a foreground natal Mars-Jupiter mundane square which is upbeat and might even mean sexual adventuring giving the Venus-Uranus primary message. Other added aspects follow the same basic message.
At the very least, it sounds fun.
Non-foreground partile aspects are a mix that probably 9on't need much comment at this stage. (I'm not crazy about Mars to his Saturn AND Saturn to his Mars, but there is also Jupiter to is Venus, for example.)
Basic summary of angularities:
Change = 10
Benefic = 8, Malefic = 1
Spotlight = 6, Dignity = 1, Indignity = 0
If we add the Moon-Saturn aspect, this still keeps benefics a little stronger than malefics for an overall impression. - Change and shifting conditions are the primary message, pleasure the secondary message, and loss the tertiary message.

Re: My Son's 2023 SSR
Fun is definitely good too! Fun + romance would be even better!
I noticed the Ma-Sa & Sa-Ma too. He handled the first pass of Saturn to his Mars well. I think it mainly exhibited as inner tension, a building up to the decision to make some big changes, kind of pushing against it & then relenting. And from my standpoint he's been blessed from it (but I'll get to all of that on his 2022 SSR thread).
Two months after his birthday, so right before the rough lunar charts I mentioned in my other thread begin (12/05). I really wish I wouldn't but I immediately associate the word 'loss' when it comes to Mo-Sa with death. I've had the aspect featured in SSR's for my father's death & when we had to put our 15 year old doggie down (T to T however for both). But I've had other significant deaths in the my life that didn't feature Mo-Sa & I'm sure I had charts with Mo-Sa that had no death at all. But still my immediate gut reaction is someone is going to die & I hate it. I would love it if it actually signified me moving away (which seems impossible, thanks Su-Ne sq!) rather than him having to suffer the loss of someone forever. But I'll try to take comfort in all the positive features instead & try to ignore the Mo-Sa best I can.

Re: My Son's 2023 SSR
In mundane astrology, if one wants to get a "hook" into a chart with a single word, Saturn on an angle usually is successfully "hooked" with the word "loss," expanded into "loss of life or property." Major Saturn mundane events tend to have a death toll or costly property loss somehow.
Personally, it's not as simple as mundanely. Individual people are vastly more complex and flexible, whereas in mundane matters (how the masses respond collectively) one is dealing with the simplified "lowest common denominator" angle.
The Moon-Saturn could be lots of things. A death is a possibility but a separation even a stronger possibility (e.g., this chart could be an exciting relationship that only lasts a short while, must to name one thing). It could be economic or loss of freedom or (since Moon is involved) an impact on his health for a few weeks. It does usually seem to bring a perception that "something got taken away, but there is wide latitude in that. It could, for example, be loss of freedom for a short while or disappointment that he isn't going to get something he's excited about,
And so on.

With the Venus-Uranus action in his next SSR, combined with the angular action of his secondary progressed Venus & Node, he indeed might find a new love during his 2023 solar year.He's definitely ready to find a romantic partner & I think this SSR points to that becoming a reality. Re: My Son's 2023 SSR
LeiLei’s son has an “outstanding incident” Venus-Uranus 2023 SSR. It’s not that often I run across an “outstanding incident” SSR but when I do they have always proved to me an “outstanding incident” relative to the native’s immediate environment pertaining to its planetary symbolism.
Allow me to quote some words from Jim’s great book “Interpreting Solar Returns.”

Allow me to quote some words from Jim’s great book “Interpreting Solar Returns.”
Although LeiLei’s son 2023 SSR does not involve the horizon and meridian it involves his East Point with SSR Uranus partile cnj his SSR East Point partile 90 his SSR Venus. Jim writes about the East Point:One of astrology’s basic doctrines, handed down through the centuries, is that the angles of the horoscope---the horizon and meridian---represent the most powerful, active, dynamic areas of a map.
Now, let’s listen to Jim’s words for his guidelines about “outstanding incidents” Solar Returns:The points 90 degrees from the meridian in right ascension are called the East Point and West Point. Extremely significant positions….
Let’s look at a chart snapshot of LeiLei’s son’s 2023 SSR with his “outstanding incident” Venus-Uranus configuration with link below:Partile aspects (1 degree orb or less) reign supreme. According to my proposed formulae, a conjunction, or opposition with a 1 degree orb is at 99% of its maximum strength, squares register 98 % of their full clout. For almost any purpose, they can indeed be considered “exact.” Aspects at this high (partile) level of potency are apt to manifest no matter what. For anything less strong, angularity is required to lend easy expressiveness to whatever configurations (Venus-Uranus) are present. It is when angularity and aspect partility coincide that outstanding incidents are most likely to come about.

LeiLei, be sure and read Ebertin’s COSI tones for Venus-Uranus vibes, and keep us informed.A Solar Return is the basis of the most powerful forecasting system presently (1977) known to astrological technology.
